John DeFilippo
With the end of the season vacancies I keep searching to see if John’s name pops up. It looks as if the Minnesota disaster has killed his “sure-thing” status as one of the next hit head coaches.

Does anyone have any news on his opportunities ? I don’t even see his name coming up for OC interviews . Maybe after the Head coaches are hired he may get a look again as OC.

DeFilippo is in the process of being hired by the Jaguars as OC.

Thanks for the update. Jags need to draft a QB. He did good things with a young Carson Wentz.

Looks like it is a done deal according to Jags fan site.

That's probably what helped him land this job. They have already stated that they are in the market for a qb, and that seems to be John's greatest asset (working with qb's).

He was (surprisingly) let go by Jacksonville today. Wouldn't be surprised if he went back to Philadelphia.

Hired by the Bears to be a QB coach. Good that he landed quickly, but not so good that it's going backwards. Bears coach was QB for Delaware the same time DeFilippo was at JMU.

Of course most people on this board have never heard of Jerry Lee Lewis. 03-lmfao

Then there are old folks like me, who have seen the Jerry Lee perform in one of those dive night clubs in Waldorf MD, back in the day.

Wow! Did they have a hitching post outside to tie your horse to?

Too funny! Actually I think I was driving a Datsun wagon. Of course most people on this board have no idea what that is/was.

Dodge Dart "Swinger" with the slant 6 engine in High School, followed by Firebird Formula which I sported at JMU. 02-13-banana

I too drive the Dodge Dart in HS. Great car!

My first car that I could occasionally borrow was Mom's 1975 Dart. Sadly, it was 4 door w/ an anemic ( but bullet proof) 6 cylinder engine. Was definitely not a chick magnet car.

RE: John DeFilippo
Anyone know what the latest evaluation of DeFelippo's stock is at this point? I'm assuming it has been devalued this past year but I could be wrong. Offensively they are near the bottom of the league for overall offense with Trubisky / Foles hovering around a 70 quarterback rating (which is his direct responsibility). Maybe the consensus is that the team did not have the tools in place, but I'm assuming his resume takes a hit regardless.

I was excited as his star was rising and interviewing for head coaching jobs before the Minnesota disaster. I was hoping he could turn it around. I don't think this year accomplished that but maybe I'll be surprised.

I don't think he helped his stock, but maybe he gets some credit for Mitch's late season run of form? The issues for the Bears' offense were a result of poor playcalling, which he had no control over.

Once again looking for any tea leaves. With all the smoke around the qb/offense dumpster fire, John's name is hardly ever mentioned (a good thing under the circumstances). I'm curious if Nagy gets handcuffed some going forward and they give Defilippo more duties? I have no idea, but then again I'm not a huge Bear fan and figure someone might have more insight.

Flip is apparently the acting OC for the Bears tonight. Not going so hot, only 3 points at the half... not sure if he's actually calling the plays or not, might be Nagy

Poor Flip. He never seems to get to coach with a dynamic offense.

RE: John DeFilippo
If Nagy is calling plays then the Bears are always in trouble. He is somehow still a winning coach, as his overall coaching record stands at 32-30, which is so weird to me.

I never heard definitively, but Nagy responded like he would either be calling plays or involved heavily in play calling in a pre-game interview.
(Was semi-watching last night while wrapping Christmas presents so I might have missed it if they addressed further during the broadcast)

RE: John DeFilippo
Realistically, what are the chances he'd be interested in coming back to be the Head Coach at JMU?

With the FBS move, I believe he would have a salary bump from his NFL position, by at least a few 100k/yr
