"Source tells FootballScoop Scott Satterfield is bringing two strong recruiters back to Louisville," the report reads. "Hiring both Cort Dennison and Steve Field away from Oregon. Sources tell us Dennison is expected to coach outside linebackers at Louisville while Field is expected to oversee recruiting."
Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports reported that Dennison would also carry co-defensive coordinator status.
Both men worked on the Louisville staff under Bobby Petrino in 2017, but left for Oregon once Mario Cristobal was promoted to replace Willie Taggart as head coach. They'll now return under Satterfield, who replaced Petrino late last year.
Dennison's loss is a significant one. He ranked as the Pac-12's seventh best recruiter during the 2018 cycle, and the 55th best nationally. He acted as the primary recruiter for Oregon signees Mase Funa and Ge'Mon Eaford.

Dennison is one of the most highly regarded young coaches in the country, especially when it comes to recruiting. After landing 11 commits for the Louisville class in 2018, he was the top recruiter for Oregon’s 6th ranked 2019 class, per 247. That included being the initial secondary recruiter for Kayvon Thibadeaux, who is the highest rated recruit to ever sign with the Ducks.
It’s hard to gauge how good of a position coach Dennison is because he’s only been an on the field coach for a few years. However, he does have experience coaching both outside linebackers as well as inside. He’s also coached under two well respected defensive coordinators in Todd Grantham and Jim Leavitt. 247Sports named him to their 30 under 30 coaching list twice, so he’s obviously getting some notoriety on a national level.
