2 good hires in a row on paper. Looking forward to seeing what they can do! Sounds like IV comes with some great experience under his dad.

We will need a TE coach, because that is what Scott coached last year.

NEW Defensive Coordinator
You guys definitely got a good one. As stated before he took the worst defense in college football and did a major turnaround in one year. In my opinion his defense would if been ranked higher if our offense didn't put them in bad positions. Also we average so many 3 and outs that the defense was on the field more than the offense. Wish we could of kept him on staff but I can understand him wanting a DC job instead of a position coach. This makes our game this year even more interesting.

What's scary about us not re-committing long-term to this staff? Seems pretty sensible if they're in a prove it year.

Agreed, this is more of a conformation that if we don't go bowling next year BW will not be the coach of ODU. That's the "scary" or shocking realization.

Said this as an idle speculation, but Blackwell may well be HC material. Depending on how he does this year in shaping up the D vs Wilder, I wouldn't be shocked to see him become the next HC. Obviously this nothing but imagination at this point.

The lack of confidence on likely both sides. This will surely help secure our top recruits and elevate our recruiting ranking. 05-stirthepot He should have signed a multi year contract with options.

Ummm. Y'all were the ones that had a hissy-fit when the last staff signed a two-year deal, correct?

I was fine with it following a Bowl season but recruiting and on field performance did not grow on that success.

He may not be anxious to make a longer-term commitment if, as we're speculating, Wilder is on the hot seat. If Wilder goes, either he gets the HC job and negotiates a different deal, or he doesn't get it, in which case the new guy is going to pick his own staff. If Wilder stays, then he might look at signing a multi-year deal. Or he moves on anyway.
