Best I’ve seen us play since the Auburn game. Gueye was really good in tonight’s game.

Holding Adger to 18 points was critical. He cooled off in the second half.

In other news, ODU lost at home to Marshall.

Looked much better tonight. May be the 2nd best game we've played this year outside of the Auburn loss.

Gueye has improved dramatically.
Showing confidence. Fun to watch him
Needs to work on rebounding.
I enjoyed being at Bartow on this wet January night.

Game Thread- FAU
We have one of the most difficult conference schedules while ODU and UNT have the easiest. We play @UNT, @LT, @USM, @WKU, @Marshall and host ODU.

Bad year to have the bad draw on the schedule

I fought my way through hurricane-force winds and driving rain to Bartow Arena to see the Blazers.

As I’ve written before, the players we need to be good are already in green and gold. I had not seen Gueye look so athletic before, twisting his 125 pounds into pretzel shapes to snatch rebounds. Even Will Butler made a really athletic play on a feed inside.

Bell was a major pickup. And I still think Pearson is going to be a star.

Maybe, just maybe they just needed some time to play together.

Butler is a stud. We need him to emerge. He is capable of giving us so much more.

What happened to Scootie's eye after his second monster dunk?

What exactly happened to the FAU player with the left arm injury? I saw an ice pack on his Deltoid then it went to a sling.

Fun game last night.

Gueye was on fire until they went zone. It looked like he decided they couldn't guard him and just went to town.

Offense has improved dramatically since the beginning of the season. We have four guards who can score with Scootie, Bell, Perry and Lovan ... Lewis has developed a nice fall-away shot ... and Butler and Gueye can be dangerous inside.

We play good defense, we have more attitude than we've had in years and this team is entertaining as all get out. Here's hoping we can go on a nice streak and make a little bit of noise in conference season.

Solid win. FAU had won at UCF and Illinois. Starting conference play gives the guys a chance at a fresh start and they looked energized. Defense has been improved so it was nice to see some good shooting come around. Hope they can keep it going.

CUSA seems pretty wide open. North Texas looks pretty good and WKU is dangerous. I don't see anybody this UAB team can't beat if we can shoot the ball like we did last night.

Things to note though: Their leading scorer was out and one of their guys got hurt early in the game.

From when I was able to view or watch the stats of the game, it appears that FAU a lot of the time couldn't hit the side of the barn.

Was this because of us or them or both?

Good to win regardless and built momentum.

Doesn't Dusty May coach FAU? Has this already been discussed?

You could hear this in his postgame interview. Seems like a great teammate and overall good kid.

It seemed like it was both. Even when they made 3s they were contested. Their bigs seemed a little too trigger happy from the arc and it worked in UAB's favor.

Couple other things I saw last night:
1) Disappointed that I'm apparently 1 of ~5 people that Andy Kennedy didn't seem to be best friends with last night. I was waiting for him to walk by to get a picture but it didn't work out.
2) Anyone else see Ingram get the kid sitting courtside to put on a UAB shirt? The Kid had on an Auburn sweatshirt and I saw Mark go over to talk to him, and the next time I looked over the kid was wearing UAB. Really smart move by him. I hope they'll start to incorporate something into the terms for sitting in the lower level. I know a lot of NHL teams won't let you sit in the lower bowl if you're wearing anything but the home team's garb or neutral colors.
3) Awesome game. Seemed like it was right at the pace that UAB should be playing at. KenPom had it as a 5 point win for UAB.

They won at Illinois and had a couple of other good wins with their top scorer out.

Yes, FAU was down two starters. Jailyn Ingram, their best player, tore his ACL four games ago. Then Jaylen Sebree hurt his arm or shoulder early in the game. UAB played well, but FAU wasn’t at full strength.

Yeah, well, with Carlos Williams and Michael Charles we'd've beat them by 80.

Our team was on the floor. So was theirs.

Yes, it has been mentioned somewhere. May have been on BT or twitter from MB.

I didn't realize he (Ingram) was injured or who he was. I'm guessing he didn't appreciate me calling him "headband" and telling him to sit down. I then told him the more he "coached" from the bench, the more the scoring margin grew. 07-coffee3
