What's the deal with Alfis "The Greek Freek"?
Hi All,
What's up with Alfis Pilafios? He's not getting any minutes and is riding some serious pine... with Marquis "Barack" Godwin going out, will Alfis get more exposure? How's he look in practice? Legit?

Ladies and Gentlemen, as Alvis left the building?

Maybe the most head-scratching recruit we've had since I don't know when.

I sit behind the bench and heard Jeff kidding with him about going in at the end of the Morgan State game. Both of them laughed about it, as did the other players. That said, my guess is, there is a plan for him, possibly red-shirt this year.

I wouldn't think he traveled here from Greece just to watch basketball from the front row.

I saw that as well. Maybe they are planning to apply for a redshirt for him this year, because that would have certainly been the time for him to get some game experience.

This is what I've heard as well.

Yes, he has a lot of potential, but is extremely raw and needs to put in a lot of work. Fingers crossed he takes advantage of the time.

Pretty frustrating he lost a year of eligibility even though he doesn't play. I realize it's up to the kid not the coach, but that is a few minutes I wish we could take back.

You realize they changed the rules on redshirts starting this year. He can still get a redshirt. Unless the rule change was ONLY for football. Which I don't believe it was.

No, I did not realize they changed the rules for redshirting in basketball. Pretty sure if you play 1 minute in a game your year of eligibility is burned unless you qualify for medical or hardship waiver. I would love to be proved wrong.

Stuart McEwen

LOL. We were thinking the exact same thing.

Quick story about McEwen. It was during one of the snowstorm days back in 2012-2013. I was with my friend walking around the village area, and McEwen comes out of nowhere wearing his ODU basketball track suit. I suppose he was into magic tricks because he sneezed and all this gold bond powder flew everywhere, I mean you could really smell it and it was pungent. My friend and I just stared at him, and my friend quipped “that was as about impressive as your basketball skills.” Stuart did not have a comeback, and turned back into the village apartment entrances. We never saw him again.
