RE: FBS Coaching Carousel (UPD: CLOSED)
at least for now. Very possible we could see a college coach go to the pros.

Or a new hire is discovered to have lied on his resume or a new coach lets a stripper use his school credit card or a coach wrecks his motorcycle with his girlfriend/employee on the back.

And so I was 99.9% correct. I thought there might be a coach leave for the pros....

but...
Mark Richt retiring from Miami. Their AD was shocked with this....

Mark Richt isn’t allowed to retire. The coaching carousel is closed. He has to wait till next year.

Pat Fitzgerald reportedly in the running for the Packers job. Would be a huge risk for him, he has zero NFL experience and would enter one of the highest pressure jobs in the NFL. At Northwestern on the other hand he's a legend and can get away with winning just seven or more games a year with the occasional breakout season. I suppose he's only 44 (hard to believe) so if he flops he could return to college.

Between him and Mike MacIntyre, Ole Miss is putting together a solid staff for them. Surprised they didn't go to the Alabama Fired Coaches Rehab Clinic like a dozen others.

RE: FBS Coaching Carousel (UPD: CLOSED)
I’m not sure I buy the rumors of Dana Holgerson going from West Virginia to Houston, although I could see him going to Miami. I’d love to see Miami go after Mike Leach though.

Seems very likely we get a couple more openings soon. If Holgerson takes either current opening I could see West Virginia going after Neal Brown from Troy. If Holgerson goes to Houston and Miami got Leach we’d have quite a few trickle down openings. Add in Pat Fitzgerald to Green Bay rumors and perhaps Lincoln Riley goes to the NFL as well, suddenly there’s quite a few spots open.

I’d be really surprised if neither Kingsbury or Riley jump to the NFL. Possibly both make the jump this season, depending on how many openings occur tonight/tomorrow.

Miami hiring Manny Diaz, hadn’t even let the ink dry on his contract with Temple.

Miami spent $4 Million just to promote him from DC to HC.

Temple may have stumbled upon a new business model. They have received $6.5 million combined between Georgia Tech and, now, Miami. Not a bad chunk of change to invest how they see fit.

They've been a factory for sending coaches to the P5 for some time.

Can somebody tell us who WVU will bring in as HC. How many names are left out there. I can't believe they would be taking any A5 coaches. Worries me that Heupal would be available. Taken a proven team to the same heights as a first year HC at UCF, and played in the Big12-2 as a winning OU QB. Unless WVU has already picked one, not a bad choice, even with little experience.

Troy’s Neal Brown appears to be the leading candidyat West Virginia from what I’ve seen. No idea who Troy would potentially target though.

In other news, Pat Fitzgerald committed to staying at Northwestern following their bowl win. His name had been mentioned in several NFL possibilities, most notably Green Bay.

Lincoln Riley also appears to be staying at OU, not going to NFL.

I would add Jay Norvell from Nevada to that list as his staff has at least 2 ex mountaineer coaches.
I'm glad Holgs is going to a school he is familiar with and we can get our rebuilding started a year earlier than planned. This may work out well for both schools.
