RE: 2019 Football Season
Maybe 5 wins. Since we are going to keep Gill, 5 wins is a possibility but how Gill/staff make crappy plays and lose winnable games, it could be less. I can’t wait to see our current coach and staff leave our program. 7-8 years was enough for us to bear mediocrity and a few wins that we shouldn’t have.

5-7

Is that 5 and 7, or 5 to 7?

These are the best opportunities to win, in my opinion. I like our chances to be bowl eligible but I've been disappointed before. It's a very manageable schedule, as they should be until we establish ourselves.

Ya know, one of the harder games on our schedule could be Maine. They are playing for a semi-final spot in the FCS playoffs.

Their bracket is incredibly easy in comparison to the other side. I’m not surprised they are there but they aren’t close to the most difficult game next year. I view them similar to Idaho St. We will struggle the whole game but stay just far enough away to keep them at bay.

I have you guys at 6-6 with that schedule, so not bowl eligible yet without an NCAA Waiver.

It depends who those six wins are against. If two are against FCS schools (like I assume you are projecting), then we'd be like the last alternate if there aren't enough bowl eligible teams.

Yeah I have the two fcs. New Mexico, the NMSU home game one of UMass/@NMSU and then one from ULL/Rutgers

I’m pretty sure with those two FCS games we would need a wavier. They don’t automatically fill a bowl with a 6-6 team with two FCS wins.

RE: 2019 Football Season
I dunno know well Liberty's going to be next year, but they are hitting the ground running into FBS. That said, some teams do, and then they flounder quick to expected range and have to work their way up due to coaches leaving here and there due an impressive start. Anyway, I'll assume they'll be about the same as this year. L=Loss, W=Win, E=Either

L Aug 31 - Syracuse
E Sep 07 - @ Louisiana-Lafayette
E Sep 14 - Buffalo
W Sep 21 - Hampton
W Sep 28 - New Mexico
W Oct 05 - @ New Mexico State
E Oct 19 - Maine
L Oct 26 - @ Rutgers
E Nov 02 - @ UMass
L Nov 09 - @ BYU
L Nov 23 - @ Virginia
W Nov 30 - New Mexico State

I don't know how good Maine is going to be next year. They beat W Kentucky, but lost to a Bad CMU team this year... but are deep in the FCS playoffs. So I called them an "Either".

Buffalo's on their way up (historic D3 coach getting things rolling for them finally), and they'll be at least an 8W team next year, which is why I want to call it an 'L', but I'm going to give Liberty the benefit of the doubt with an 'Either'.

4W+
4L+

4-4 + (@LLaf, Buffalo, Maine, @UMass)

I see them going 5-7, very possibly 6-6. It's odd they play New Mexico State Twice. But G5-level independents have less to work with.

Problem is, playing 2 FCS opponents: You won't make a bowl @6-6 unless there's a shortage of teams to be in bowls, and I believe a 6-7 13-game team who didn't play an FCS will be ahead of you on that, too. And if you go 7-5, you're still on the short end of a stick. You basically need 8W to ensure you going to a bowl (6 FBS wins), with that schedule.

With our bowl tie we need to go 7-5 and either the SBC or the AAC to not fill all of their bow games. Being 8-4 or 7-5 doesn’t really make a difference for us.

It's tough to beat the same team twice in one year, and due to the Indy scheduling of LU, that's New Mexico State. We can expect a split rather than 2 LU wins. The U-Mass game should be a win for LU with the home and revenge factor of losing in OT. With the uptick in the quality of schedule, 6-6 in 2019 would be an improvement over 6-6 in 2018. LU surprised many of us with their 6 win season. In the past TG had his teams play up to FBS teams and down to FCS teams. In 2018, that was different with an improvement. If LU can win 6 games for HCHF in 2019 that would be another upward step.

I'm still guessing 6 or 7 wins. It is a coaching transition year and the team is coming off the FCS to FBS transition.
