No proof that they called.

Good to hear and that's what is really important now. It would be great if a few could do some politicking for us but that would probably be expecting too much. Staying out of our way is a huge first step.

We are definitely ahead of schedule with football. Need to get that way in men's basketball too.

I have seen UCONN Statements about wanting to get their basketball back in the Big East. But, is there any proof that Memphis and Cincinnati want out because of the inclusion of Tulane, ECU & Tulsa? Memphis especially as they were a newbie in the AAC at that time.

Yes there is proof that Memphis wants out if you consider statements by the president to be proof. A few years back when it appeared the Big 12 was expanding, President David Rudd was very vocal about getting to the big 12, including eliciting the help of fedex. Connecticut and Cincinnati were also making pitches. All three were finalists until suddenly the Big 12 decided not to expand, presumably under pressure from teams like Texas

You can add Houston to that list of Big 12 "wannabes". They had been a late addition to the SWC before its demise and liked being in a Power Conference - and wants to return. Is Texas still an enemy of Houston's ambitions?

I suspect, given a choice, Texas would prefer an out of state school...

So, It looks like the Blazers should stay in the Conference in which they live or go to the Big 12 that would be great for the State of Bama, But, Like all those other teams they want in. It would be Great to see the Blazers get the Big 12 style recruits and compete with the Elephants and Tigers. But sure the powers that be don't want to see that, See Birmingham is the Magic City. It is a Great City. Figure if Baylor can make it why can't the Blazers.

We need any further expansion on hold until we have football consistency. I wouldn’t say basketball is a negative for us, it’s still our greatest sport historically. Plus our basketball facilities are still pretty good.

I’d not sleep on UTSA in possible expansion, if they can start winning San Antonio supports them well.

Also I’d think they’d make a run at Boise again too.

Boise isn’t going anywhere unless the AAC offers them the world. It makes no sense for Boise to move.

I think football looks pretty consistent at this point. We will see if we are perennial contenders, but we are definitely not bottom feeders anymore. It is my understanding that our basketball facilities outside of Bartow are not very good.

UTSA is a bad geographic fit, but who knows. I’d have to assume we are at least on a short list of programs if expansion occurs again.

When’s the last time Boise was in a New Years Six game? They’d love to have what Houston and UCF has recently.

Boise is in no worse shape than they were years ago, they just haven’t been quite as lucky. The MWC has good football, and Boise isn’t light years ahead of the conference now. But a one loss season out there may be enough to get them an access bowl most years. They recruit at a high level:

https://247sports.com/college/boise-stat...l/Commits/

For comparison; UCF has had one four star recruit in the past four seasons.

They aren’t going to get the MWC deal anywhere else, and the travel costs associated with moving to the AAC would be enormous. I guess anything is possible, but I’d be shocked if Boise even considered the AAC again.

Boise will stay in a much improved MWC. Would love to eee some basketball and football HH with them. The next play will be with the AAC. Just watch U-Conn and what they do.

According to quotes on TV sports shows, Boise State has the feeling that they have earned the status of having/deserving H&H contracts with P5 power teams instead of the constant "visiting team" status of most G5 programs. This has resulted in scheduling problems since top P5 programs don't care what a G5 program feels. They just want the annual 7 home games for their season ticket sales at the cheapest going rate.

I don't know that I'd hang my hat on the Big 12. First off, everyone and their brother would rather be in a true P5 conference instead of the AAC or wherever they currently are. Second, when the P5's TV contracts come up for renewal, I would not be terribly surprised to see the other four P5's dump their bottom feeders, raid the B12 for their better schools, and set up a P4 with 16 teams each. They could then set up a power team playoff from within those 64 contenders.

The rest of us can go play in the second tier conference championship.

UAB needs more money donated and more donors, as stated above. Other than that, we need to keep doing what we're doing. Give Ingram credit for upgrading all our various non-money sports facilities. We're going to look good on that level. MBB needs every upgrade that we can manage so that it is more attractive than it is now.

We're in a much better place than we were last time the realignment carousel spun. We've pretty well accomplished everything that Flying Mouse was saying that we desperately needed to do to position ourselves back in the day. MBB is the major exception to that.
