Sadly, Boz has had a pretty disastrous season. No idea what happened.
But at least he has a TD pass. Who was the last Owl to have one of those in the NFL? Donald Hollas maybe?

He's had 5 years in the league, counting his taxi squad year with the Texans. Unless your name is Morten Andersen or Sebastian Janikowski, that's pretty good.

Vance McDonald with a TD to put Pittsburgh up early 7-0 over New England in a huge game there (and Boz made the XP - he's got to be perfect today). McDonald already has career highs in receptions and yards this season, and just tied his career high with his 4th TD of the season.

Obviously, Travis Kelce is the premier tight end in the AFC this year, and I guess Ebron of Indy is #2. But McDonald might be #3 and have a chance to make the Pro Bowl. His numbers are actually better than Gronkowski (who has missed some games due to injury).

Boswell misses a 32 yd chip shot that would’ve put the Steelers up two scores.

That missed FG came immediately after McDonald JUST missed a TD catch, with half of one foot out of bounds. Ugh..

Well Boswell made a 48-yarder later and Pittsburgh ended up winning 17-10. But I don't know - I could still see him cut this week.

The 48 yard FG make was a clutch kick, and afterwards Tomlin says he's sticking with Boswell. Surprised he's stuck with him this entire time. Boswell has been almost Chuck Knoblouch-ish with his mental block. Will make Tomlin look good or bad, could decide the season for Steelers.

McDonald only 2 catches, but they were huge ones - the TD on 3rd and goal in the first drive, and the tough catch for a conversion on 3rd down in the Steeler's final drive which allowed them to get out of deep Pat's territory and eventually ran the clock and kicked the FG. He also had the impressive catch/near TD, where his foot barely touched the line.

Guessing what NFL teams will do with a kicker is so hard to do. Since they signed Boz to a good contract to start the year, my guess is they're gonna give him a little slack. I also think that it's likely run out, and he needs to be darn near perfect the rest of the year.

Boz was kicking at a historically accurate rate, prior to this year. So I wonder if the Steelers are more lenient because of that.

According to this they are keeping him around, although I sure hope he keeps kicking like that last FG he made:

Great bit on Covington as the Texans biggest breakthrough on this week’s ESPN NFL Power Rankings.

RE: Owls in the NFL 2018
Bears missing Bryce Callahan today. Philly scores a late TD on the Bears' nickel back replacement (who otherwise played okay though). And then actually Chicago could have won it but missed a 43-yard FG pretty much on the last play by maybe the only guy (Cody Parkey) who missed more field goals during the season than Boswell?

Pretty good game and if you didn't see it, there was a critical play right before half that might have to be changed in the rules book next year. The Bears made a nice reception but the ball was fumbled after the catch and before the receiver was down. But because the officials had blown the play dead (saying no catch), no one tried picking up the ball after it was fumbled. The official ended up picking up the ball, and apparently the rule is that if no one picks up a fumble, then they can't overturn the call? So they kept the ruling on the field (no catch) as is, instead of overturning it. That might have cost Chicago the game - they probably would have had a TD instead of a FG at the end of the 1st half.

The reason nobody recovered the fumble is because the pass was ruled incomplete. If the call had been a catch, Philly would probably have recovered as they had three men in the area.

RE: Owls in the NFL 2018
I've seen plenty of incomplete stripped balls picked up (particularly by defensive players), even after it was blown dead.

That one was odd, because that footnote breaks a whole lot of other primary logic in reviewing plays, including cases when a fumble isn't immediately recovered, plus how you have to assess the entire sequence step by step. If that ball had been fumbled out of bounds, pretty certain it would have been ruled a catch and given to Chicago. If it had been stripped and went through the end zone, it would have been ruled a catch and a touchback.

I was watching and still pretty confused that the play could've been considered a catch.

It doesn't look like anyone brought this up, but Boswell made a couple other headlines towards the end of the season. I guess the tweets were posted when he was at Rice?

Not in the NFL yet, but Jack Fox is doing his best to add himself to the list.

That means he'll probably go somewhere as a free agent. One or maybe two punters is usually about it for the draft.

Nice article on Jack Fox in his hometown paper:
