Seems to be good. Was the OC at Boise and NC State. Curious to hear perspective from StAte fans since he was previously on your staff.

Report: App to hire Eliah Drinkwitz
That's not a great hire IMO. He's never impressed me as someone who would be a great head coach, at least not this early in his career.

He was a GA 7 years ago and was one of the few coaches Gus left behind at ASU when he left. Add in, he's not exactly set the world on fire at NC State... not bad, but nothing special.

That said, he will be fun to watch from an outside perspective. Living in Raleigh, listening to sports radio, his interviews were fun to listen to since he'd often throw shade at UNC.

I'll be watching with curiosity.

The last two seasons State has been ranked. They just State every year. Their offense has been good but defense bad. See the Illinois game.

Not an overwhelmingly great hire, but we could have done MUCH worse.

REALLY excited to see what he can do with Thomas after the work he did with Finley.

Wow, I heard just before bed last night that Gattis was 100% the guy. I'm not sure I know too much about Drinkwitz but I bet he already recruits NC and GA and SC very well.

Based on NC State's S&P breakdown, looks like they're gonna be passing the ball a lot more.

Low in explosiveness, low in rushing. Feels like they'll look a lot more like stAte with the type of offense he ran there.

I think it's a fantastic hire for App st. Many stAte fans wanted him interviewed if Anderson ever moved on.

It's been a pretty good off season for our former OC's. Walt Bell took over UMass and Drinkwitz going to App. In the Harsin year we were struggling and Harsin gave the OC job to Drinkwitz. He got our offense back to running similar to Malzahn and Freeze type offense. We won the conf. Without him taking over I doubt that would have happened. I hope he leads y'all to a bowl game and conf. championship game but always loses to stAte.

This was a good hire. Hey GaSo ... how long before our AD gets plucked?

I'm excited about him, truly. The fact that he has such great ties to North Carolina via NC State is awesome, especially for recruiting, and NC State has done a great job these past few seasons. Is he young? Of course, but that doesn't make him any less talented or ready to take this next step in his career. Mind you that these "age" comments were nowhere to be found when we were talking about Josh Gattis!

I'm excited about this hire and thrilled that our AD was able to keep this so under wraps. That's a sign of a truly great AD, someone who plays their cards close to the chest and keeps everybody guessing until the minute it's announced. App will likely see a transition year next year, but the entire institution is changing, so that's no surprise. Drink up, Drinkwitz!

Good to know. He seems like a rising star, he’s done well at every stop. NC States offense improved every year under him, and these past few years have been some of the best State has ever had. Only 35 too.

Looks like a homerun to me.

He looks a lot like Scott. Put a visor on him and a 1/3 of our fan base won’t know the difference.

Drink’s timeline:

He was our TE coach in 2012 under Malzahn after coming over from Auburn where he was a GA. When Malzahn got the Auburn job in 2013, he didn’t take Drink with him. Harsin came in and made Drink the RB coach. Our offense was really slow out of the gate, so Harsin turned play calling duties over to Drink and we really picked it up. Harsin got the Boise job the next year and he brought Drink with him as RB coach. His OC was Mike Sanford. After Sanford left to take the OC job at ND, he promoted Drink to OC. Drink then later took the OC job at N.C. State where he’s been ever since.

Good, we have the best QB in the conference. We almost blew the conference championship because Scott refused to let him pass. When you have a QB as dangerous as Thomas, and receivers as great as Hennigan and Sutton you should be passing a lot.

Pretty hard to pass in the rain though. :(

Lol nah Satt had just mailed that one in and put together a conservative gameplan. Letting the offense player of the year pass 10 times in the conference championship was some garbage
