RE: John DeFilippo
I just realized that Cousins is averaging attempting 40 passes a game. In 6 of their 13 games he has attempted 41 or more passes. In those games, the Vikes are 0-5-1.

The Vikes' passing to running ratio is 63% pass vs 37% rush.

They are 6-1 when they throw the ball 40 times or less in a game. Some of those stats can of course be skewed some where they throw the ball a lot in games where they are behind and playing catch-up. Or, the flip (npi) of that is when they have a lead and go to the ground game to eat clock and protect a lead.

Last year with the Iggles in their Super Bowl season, they were much more balanced with a 53% pass vs 47% rush ratio. Of course, again, when you go 13-3 in the regular season, it is easier to run the ball more as you are ahead late in games far more often.

This year, with a similar record to the Vikes, the Iggles at 6-7 without Flip they are at a 58% pass vs 42% rush ratio, more out of balance than a year ago and closer to what the Vikes are doing with Flip this year though not as pronounced as Minny.

Perhaps being let go by Minny ultimately is the best thing that may happen for Flip. I think he'll be in high demand this offseason - maybe even in Washington. Just sayin'.

Hey sometimes you have to take a chance. This is how most coaches get their start.

Yep. I mentioned a few weeks ago how Urban Meyer went from position coach (Notre Dame WR coach) to HC at FBS Bowling Green. It happens, and in the case of Meyer and some others, with great success.

To clarify something because there seems to be some confusion, Flip was not the OC in Philly, he was the QB coach. And even Frank Reich, who was the OC, did not call plays. I'm sure they both had a lot of input, but Doug Pederson was and is the play caller in Philly.

Funny you mention that - Today is the anniversary of Jerry Lee Lewis marrying his 13 year old cousin. (While he was still married to his 1st wife).

Drove a '70 Plymouth with a 340 during my JMU days, though I also had a Kawasaki that I rode more than anything. I could park that bike anywhere including the grass. Campus cops ask me not to take up a parking space and they'd be cool with me.
