That time of the year again.
Seems like it’s becoming that time of year again win everyone begins to talk about adding teams to their conference. Just out of curiosity what would be everyone’s ideal conference (keep it logical).

Probably will never happen but that in my opinion would be an awesome conference.(this conference was made considering football, baseball, and basketball)

Sure. Looking at it from a football perspective, I honestly have no idea how it would negatively affect the conf as a whole if they stayed

1. I'm happy with the current Sun Belt lineup. I think we're developing some really great rivalries that will help this conference to go far in the future.
2. My lineup is a dream lineup based off of the whole 'regional realignment' that has been talked about for years now.
3. No basketball-only schools anymore for this dream lineup. That model doesn't work in this dream.

Mine will never happen, but this would be the closest thing to a regional league that Astate would get. A lot of people don’t realize with us that App is closer than Texas state

RE: That time of the year again.
I like our line up just as it is with the exception of I'd prefer a full round robin in Football. Yes I know that would mean 9 conference games and a loss of one OOC game but if we stay with 10 teams that would be my preference. Divisions with 10 teams just seem weird to me.
If UTA adds football I'd like to see us require all members to sponsor Football and then see if Little Rock would step up or find a new home. If they opt to leave my #1 choice would be to try to poach a CUSA team. So. Miss, UTSA or Old Dominion are my top choices there. If we can't poach one of those then I'd like to see if we can get Missouri State to move up or get enough support for NMSU as a full member. At 12 football playing schools then I'd say we need divisions.

I like the Sun Belt as is, but I have to imagine most of our fans would enjoy playing more of the G5 teams we had FCS history with.

RE: That time of the year again.
My logic is perhaps to simple. Keep it where it is unless USM sends queries as to how to bolt CUSA (Conferenxe Us Suck Always) then next best to get them in the league. Till then sit tight. We have 5-6-7 potential at this point out of 10 to make this a clear 3rd in the G5 and pushing number 2 in football. Let the rivalries continue to develop and don’t cut the pie into any more slices unless above occurs. For Now!!

Don't argue it isn't logical. All Div 1/FBS schools in the same geographic region. What is illogical is grouping programs by age not distance, like when the Falcons and the Saints were in the NFC West.

I could easily switch certain teams in and out but I think this setup would be fun:
App State
Arkansas State
ECU
Marshall
ODU
WKU
Coastal
Ga Southern
Southern Miss
Troy
UCF
USF
Edit* I no longer want to be in a conference with MTSU after the cheap shots I saw from them in our game

If the AAC gets blown apart it could lead to so many different scenarios, so I hope when it does this is the breakdown:
Temple
Marshall
ECU
App State
Georgia Southern
USF
Troy
USA
USM
La Tech
Ark State
ULL

Rice in Baseball makes sense. Rice in football would unload a dead weight off C-USA and put it back on the Sun Belt. Given the perception of the Sun Belt conference is rooted in football, and is in the south, adding Rice would be a huge mistake.
Add USM and La Tech in the west. Add Marshall and ODU or Charlotte in the East. Charlotte, much to the dismay of everyone, will get better at some point and is in a location and in a state that could help raise the profile of the Sun Belt. they get home and homes with bigger programs and eventually they will compete once they get a coach who figures out how to lay foundations.

ECU fans would lose their mind. USF doesn't really have fans. Louisiana Tech would see DawgXS have a heart attack to not only be in the same conference, but the same division as LOUISIANA and ULM.
As an aside, I feel like ULL's move to brand themselves as Louisiana will pay off. On TV, you don't hear ULL for the most part; you hear Louisiana Rajin Cajun's and I think that helps a lot in perception of the program as a whole.
