RE: WAC basketball week 5
Milan Acquaah is probably this season's Zach Lofton with regards to providing his team a high percentage of their offensive. He shoulders a heavy load and keeps CBU competitive. And, he is a tough guard to stop one-on-one.

I feel like I've heard that somewhere before. Great minds. 04-cheers

Good article on CBU & UCI:

https://www.pe.com/2018/12/05/alexander-...nts-to-be/

UCI beat Texas A&M and St. Mary's on the road. As both UVU and NMSU can attest to, beating St. Mary's is not an easy task, especially on the road.

That's very good, imo, as iirc, UCI is supposed to be the class of the BW this year.

They won by 2. At least they are not UTSA who lost to a DII team.

It wasn’t pretty.. but at least they got the W.
Way too many threes given up in this one.

I watched the game. Arizona picked up their defensive intensity and started hitting a lot of threes in the second half. However, Arizona was very vulnerable to a team like Utah Valley; if they can control the boards. The Wolverines were outrebounded by 10. Arizona lacks size with really only one true "low post" big man... 6' 10 Chase Jeter.

Utah Valley let an opportunity slip away tonight. However, this weekend is really going test the rest of our top WAC teams. NMSU plays against #2 Kansas on ESPN2(Saturday), GCU plays against #6 Nevada on ESPNU (Sunday), and Seattle U plays a very tough Washington team on the PAC 12 Network (Sunday).

I watched the 2nd half of the UVU game and it just looked like Arizona asserted themselves on their home court. At least UVU got paid $90,000 for the effort. Your right, there are some big games coming up on the schedule. Seattle also gets Cal on the road at the end of the month. Victories over UW and Cal would give Seattle a 3-0 record against the Pac-12 this year. Cal is a winnable game, UW will obviously be tougher.

SU lost to Stanford 96-74 and UW's zone will be a problem I think but they should end up 2-2 vs the Pac12.

Thanks, I forgot about the Stanford game. Wow, four Pac-12 games in non-conference. That is challenging. I agree, 2-2 is doable and would be a good sign for the program going forward.

Seattle is looking strong. Hope they take down Washington! An interesting note to their schedule: besides the Stanford game on Nov. 6th they have not left the Seattle area and will not until the 17th when they head 2 hours down the road to play in Portland. I wonder how a non-travel OOC will affect them in conference play. Last year, GCU had a similar non-travel schedule and I do not think it helped them much.

I used to live in Portland and I totally agree. The place has been overrun by the crazies of this world now though so I will never move back.

It was a great half played by NMSU but should Chuha be playing after punching another player?

Good showing by NMSU. Too bad they couldn’t hit their free throws or execute offensively late in the second half. Even with all of that going on, they still were a shot away from forcing OT.
