The NIU men’s and women’s basketball team attends so many other teams games. Very disappointed in the support for the basketball team. The music by the dj was fine. The reason our fan base and budget is so low is our fan base is old. We do not have any fan presence of late 20’s to 40 year olds. NIU cannot continue catering things to us old folks( Iam 53). Our fan base is slowly passing away and there is no young blood to replace them. Montgomery is constantly telling and forcing his players to attend other NIU athletic events which they willing attend. We cannot control how many fans attend games but certainly NIU Athletics can support them!
Football team has better things to work on this week. Chill.

Yeah, you can't please everyone. I thought the music was totally appropriate for a college basketball game. With the video board, music, descent venue we've got everything but fans. The support was sad, especially with no band there.
It comes down to no students and DeKalb is on the decline, nothing more. I don't blame the football team for leaving after half, they should be too busy on a week night if they're doing things right and taking care of business, not sitting around at a basketball game.

Not to change the subject, but how on Earth did UC-Davis get so many wide open 3-point shots in the first half? Repeatedly, there was no one within 15 feet of them. They still had to make them (which they usually did), but still.

Big red, we are all to busy on a week night but doesn’t the football team want us to come out to their games on a week night? My point really is the men’s and women’s basketball teams support(attend) so many other teams games maybe others could attend some basketball games. And there is no reason for the cheerleaders or at least a pep band to attend.

Speaking of 3’s Huskies are 54-147 for .367% which is very good. Their opponents are 77-205 for .376% which is very good. We can finally make them at a good rate time to up our shots per game. They can certainly do that in the flow of the offense.

Pep band is done for this semester. Myself I do look forward to attending a few games this year. Seems like an exciting team and the scoreboard should make it fun

Can’t argue there’s room for more support from the football team, probably other men’s teams as well. Just saying the basketball team would never be seen at a football game on a week night. Either. Probably only attended the one football game they were introduced on the field. The ladies are another story, consistently being seen supporting fellow huskies.
Let’s talk about on the court. Game was uninspiring at times last night but the 3 pt shooting and defensive adjustments in the second half were refreshing to see.
DeKalb 222, why do you think Lacy played maybe 1 minute in the second half and McCarty got the minutes? Also, the guy that popped 2 quick 3s to start the game played very little. I figured it was due to the defense and not handling their pick n roles but don’t know enough about this team to know? Curious to here educated insights on how minutes are distributed.

Lacey James was battling fouls all night and McCarty was playing well. Rod Henry-Hayes made those early threes. Hayes played 27 minutes so that’s a lot

I think NIU showed some weaknesses last night, pesky teams like UC Davis tend to do that. Seeing Lee up close last night I can sort of understand the redshirt thing. He makes Levi Bradley look like an insane body builder. Hopefully he can bulk up a bit over the offseason. Normally I'd feel good about NIU going forward with this better offense, but the MAC is just so good and so deep this year. Conference play will be a bloodbath for anyone not named Buffalo, Toledo, or Ball State.

Seems like we need bulk and don't have it. UC Davis didn't have it either.

You guys forget that the U in NIU stands for University. The football players and band kids have finals starting this week and going into next week. Sorry the students couldn't fulfill your wishes as we are trying to graduate with a degree...

Just an observation, James never touched the aggie on the play or replay of his supposed fourth foul. My other observation was this was the worst Huskie effort this year. Hopefully they are saving a good effort for Indianapolis.

Dogdanit, the pep band has been at one men’s game so far this season. You are right though my fault students are extremely busy right now. Maybe we can get Dekalb or Sycamore high school to send over a pep band and cheerleaders. If it’s not a violation I’m sure they would enjoy it#communiversity!

That's what I didn't like about this game, UC Davis really outworked NIU, and NIU relied on talent discrepancy to win. NIU brings that kind of effort in the MAC it will amount to a 6 or 7 win conference season. UC Davis not a horrid team, they only lost by 12 or 14 @ Indiana. If they could hit their outside shots at a little better clip, they would very dangerous. They sure work that ball on the perimeter beautifully.

They pass better than NIU. Way better. And they shot really well on 3s in the first half since we didn't cover the outside 3 at all.

They can pass better all they want, NIU shoots better than most teams in the nation. NIU shot 2pt, 3pt and free throws much better thus winning.
