In addition to well-deserved as we agree, it is great he is getting the recognition after all the hard work and effort.

Of course, that is not limited to SS; all the players put in a tremendous amount of time and effort, and of course it is not limited to the football team. All the student athletes put in a ton of time and effort for which they should be commended.

SS would seem to be a great example of recruiting the best athletes and then moving them to other positions to fit needs and skills. One or more of the coaches certainly deserves big-time kudos for the SS move.

Does he get to meet Bob Hope? Or is that only after the AP votes?

It has been a long time since I saw Bob Hope introduce the All-American team. Thanks for the memories.

RE: Sutton Smith named Sports Illustrated first team All-American
Sutton Smith currently has 30 career sacks. If he were to return next season these records are within reach:

SACKS
Sutton: 30
NIU All-time: 32
MAC All-time: 32 (Smith and English are 1,2 right now)
FBS All-time:43 (Jaylon Ferguson, Louis-tech., Conf-USA. Top P5 is 36)

TACKLES FOR LOSS
Sutton:57
NIU All-time: 57 Sutton
MAC All-time: 75(Kahlil Mack, Buffalo)
FBS All-time: 75(Mack)

Sutton's 57 TFL's is better than 5 of the 10 conferences and tied with 1 other

That had some great players on that team. 265 lb offensive lineman was big back then. I used to love watching that program even though the jokes were so corny.

1993 version didn't have the corny jokes, but it was a good year for running backs.

He got the shaft for Walter camp all american. Got second team and ed Oliver who played in only 8 games got first team. I know Oliver is going to be a top 5 pick but hardly played this season and gets first team.
