Army-Navy Game, Saturday, 3 p.m.!
The Army-Navy game is this Saturday at 3 p.m.

Always fun to watch.

While I am glad WMU does not run a triple option, I enjoy seeing it run - and run well - periodically. This game provides that opportunity.

LOVE the tradition, respect, and pageantry involved.

Here's the history of the game, including past results:

Enjoy! And, for our friend Brovol, GO ARMY!

US Air Force Academy crushed Navy and barely lost to Army, at West Point.

Typically they beat them both. 04-rock

Always love watching Army-Navy game.

One of the great CFB traditions.

Of course there are some of our "fans" who will pooh-pooh it because they aren't "nationally relevant," like say Boise.

Thanks brother.

Yes indeed. Army/Navy is in my mind, without question, the greatest rivalry ever. It ain't cheap, but I highly recommend attending at least once, and if you do, get there Friday morning and attend all the events through the evening, and then get to the stadium to watch the "March On" for the corps of cadets and brigade of midshipmen.

My wife and I had never been to an Army Navy game until two years ago when my son was a plebe at West Point. We have attended the last two games, and they have been two of the most special events we have ever been to. It is a combination of heated rivalry, and the highest level of mutual respect, and it goes both for the football teams, but also attaches equally as much the rest of the cadets and midshipmen, the families, soldiers and officers.

There is always a spirit rally at the convention center on Friday night. So much fun it is hard to describe. The bands and cheerleaders, with supporters from both sides. It is loud and to say it is incredibly festive is a gross understatement.

Unfortunately, I will not be attending this year. My wife and I are actually somewhat depressed about it. lol. We will hope to get reports from my son as we're watching the game, but doubt he will be doing much texting during the game. We will be back there next year though, as it will be my son's last year at West Point, and his sister has never attended, so we will be sure to get it off her bucket list.

As I've said here several times before, it is also a really cool experience to attend an army home game at West Point, and spend a day checking out the entire Garrison before or after the game. Different than all other college football experiences, although similar in a lot of ways. Just can't duplicate the environment.

Army is 9-2 and took a final four team to overtime. They are very good and this rivalry is the real deal. I, like you, can't wait to watch.

RE: Army-Navy Game, Saturday, 3 p.m.!
Had run into a fellow Cav soldier at the local tire shop this morning. I recognized his 7th CAV Gary Owen(see We We’re Soldiers) hat as he walked in. I enlisted at the tail end of Desert Storm (9th Cav) and he was drafted into Viet Nam. He told me stories of Xmas on the battlefield and a reunion this year in Pittsburgh. Today’s game is about esprit de corps, pride of the academies and the greatness of the next generation of Army and Navy officers. As we’ve learned from previous generations there is a standard within the service that cannot be compromised. This is a game like none other in any sport at any level. Go Army beat Navy!

My Dad was in the Navy during WWII, stayed in Naval Reserve afterwards for many years, rose to rank of Lt. Commander.

After he was hired to teach Industrial Education at WMU in 1956 he continued to go to Fort Custer regularly for meetings of the Reservists.

He and my mother are buried at there.

So - Go Navy, Beat Army!

This Army defense is so good. It's fun to watch a strong, attacking defense.

Yes, the unis highlighting different divisions-units of either service are interesting and honoring them is nice.

But the basic unis of both acadamies are great in their designs, colors, and traditions.

RE: Army-Navy Game, Saturday, 3 p.m.!
Great win for Army, even if there were mistakes from both sides. After 14 losses in a row, three straight wins is incredible. It's awesome that it started my son's first year at West Point.

The Corps of Cadets consist of about 4400 Cadets divided into four regiments, which are divided into nine companies each. Each class is split equally within the companies. The academies have varsity/NCAA level sports in just about every NCAA sport, and then other non NCAA sports, like boxing, crew, shooting, and others. Those who are not on a varsity level sport play company sports every semester, which are like intramural sports, but with almost all of the players on each team being high varsity level high school athletes (for example, my son was a very accomplished athlete in HS, including all conference and all-area first team in soccer, but says he is just an average player on the company soccer team). The entire Corps is athletic, and all live with each other 24/7, all year, every year. Same with the other academies. They really are a family, and all the cadets know, eat with, and hang with all of the athletes; particularly within their company . Point being, this is different than other colleges, and these games mean so much it is impossible to fully appreciate.

The parents of Cadets are also very much brought into the fold and part of the West Point family in a way which is way far beyond other colleges. I never thought I would root for a school like I root for WMU, and while my loyalties are always primarily with the Broncos, Army is special when your kid is there, and will be serving in the Army for years thereafter.

I hope my Bronco brethren have the opportunity to get to one of these games, and get to West Point at least once. Nothing else compares; trust me.

Go Army! Beat Navy!
