Football is life, apparently.

Time to get the Olympic sports to step up, STF.

Whomever wrote that article deserves a “laurel and hardy handshake” for the impressive spin.

STF the game show host isn’t going anywhere for awhile.

He is a solid administrator. With budget issues in state of Illinois, declining enrollment etc. he has done a good job. This is not Texas, TheOSU, Notre Dame, Alabama etc, who have huge Athletic budgets, NIU has limited resources.

In addition, our student athletes graduate and many have very high GPAs. That should be applauded.

Who wants to volunteer to file the FOIA so the contract details are public?

+1

Couldn't agree more.

He's not perfect, no one is. But the critics who assume someone else would be able to do significantly better overall are not being realistic.

On board with Klake et al. Clean programs, strong emphasis on the student athlete, the fundraising has probably kept things afloat during the state's budget crisis, the football team keeps winning, and other programs have had off and on success. I'd like to see our teams be more consistently competitive across the board, but all in all nothing to be ashamed of with NIU sports. Good for Sean.

Perfectly fine with this, he has done a lot with minimal help and resources. Can't wait to come back later and find all the negative Nancy's pouting about this.

In general, I support Frazier and believe he is doing a good job in spite of our lack of financial support. My only problem with him is in his hesitation to replace coaches who are under performing (Monty, Carey). I know most of you think Carey is doing a good job. I happen to disagree and think there are better options to replace him.

Agree!!!!
And, where does it actually say that a school must disclose any extensions promptly. My take is that it's none of anybody's business. If someone stumbles upon it or if there's an indication that something might have happened and files for the information so be it. But this thing about people having their shorts out of wack because they weren't told first is nonsense. Nothing says that the university has to clear it with anyone on this board or advise this board of any process.
None of us are that important so live with it.

Agreed. He runs a campaign program on a beer budget.

Who, Mike Jinks or John Bonamego? The grass isn't always greener. NIU has a coach that has won 2 MAC Championships and 4 Division Titles in 6 years. That's not good enough for you? Do you remember the Sadler years? Chances are just as good for the next Sadler as the next Doeren. NIU just won a MAC Championship, enjoy it.

If he's extended, hope he feels extra pressure to close on some naming rights.

The university is a government institution and should be transparent to the taxpayers by proactively communicating, especially when the football coach and the athletic direction are such high profile, highly compensated state employees.

I think he's trying but nobody wants to pony up enough $ to make it worthwhile for NIU. Rather than sell rights for 10 years or more at bargain basement prices he's waiting for someone to meet his target price. It would be interesting to know what that target is.

And an absolute metric s*^t-ton of worse options, too, but it's been so long since NIU rolled snake eyes on a football coach that you seem to think it's impossible for them to hire a program killer.

Virtually every other MAC school seems to do it once a decade, if not more.

You just watched the football team fight their asses off and bring home a championship 5 days ago. But hey, fake punt, right?

you are assuming that administrators want to come to niu or any illinois public institution. they're not attractive jobs due to instability across many disciplines. the athletic department has done some frustrating things, but sean has done a good job here. if you don't believe that, you don't have much knowledge regarding politics, higher education, and intercollegiate athletics.

they are asking for too much from what i've heard. as much as the athletic department says that the convo is a high-traffic venue, it is far from it. in the past four years the university has hosted three legitimate events (rich homie quan, thomas rhett, and trevor noah).
