With current fan support, or lack thereof, and general downward feeling of performance on the field, I feel like this was the best case we could hope for. We weren't bringing a ton of fans anywhere, so not having anyone in Hawaii is understandable. We get a shot at 5 straight bowl wins. Its Hawaii, a huge destination to play football.

Tech @ Hawaii

Just another road game, that makes 5 home and 8 road games in 2018. We used to go to the island during our WAC days, every other year, and are 0-fer playing UH there. Actually 0-5 with the closest game coming in 2004, 34-23.

This is a road game....nothing more.

I said right from the beginning of the season that we were NOT going to be shipped off to Hawai’i or the Bahamas.

Give me an opponent we haven’t played before.

Meh, I prefer to play a team who's head coach wants to be at their school... 05-stirthepot

Ive said the same thing. One guy at ESPN has had us going to Hawaii the whole year and Jerry Palm at CBSSports has had us going there the last 2 months. We've now been in CUSA since 05 and have never even been a thought for that bowl.

The interesting thing that I heard today is everyone thinks their ADs do wrangling for bowls but that's not even remotely right. The writer for herdzone.com explained today unless they let the conference champ pick their bowl then there are 2 calls made to the AD once bowls are set. The 1st call comes from the conference headquarters telling you bowls are set and you will receive a call from that bowl. The next call is from the bowl for an invite, that's the 1st time you know which bowl.

The one thing you don't see anymore and I don't think Ive seen it for at least 10 years now is bowl officials at conference championship games and inviting the winner and sometimes even losers to a certain bowl on the field.

Bowl officials being in a stadium, invite in hand, was still occurring as recently as 2012, and probably since then too. I know for sure about '12...it just didn't work out for us.

As disappointing a season that Louisiana Tech had, I still think they can beat Hawaii, and maybe easily.

I think they can too. They beat UNT and they throw every play just like Hawaii. Tech needs to find some offense.

BYU's contract with ESPN guarantees placement in one of ESPN-owned bowls if it is eligible.
