Louisville is toxic right now. You don’t want to be the guy who has to clean up the mess. You want to be the next guy after that, in about 4 years.
Louisville basketball was toxic also. But they got a really good coach in Xavier's Chris Mack.
It still is toxic, but P5 or not Louisville is a very good basketball job indeed, far better than their football program. MBB makes money on a similar scale to UA Football, crazy money. Go look at how many their arena holds and how expensive season tickets and accompanying donation are. Crazy money.
High pressure job, lots of big boosters with opinions on how it should be run.
The football job is ok in isolation, but there is a lot of downside to where they are right now. I really don't think that it is Clark's kind of job.

Jeremy Pruitt's looking for an OC. Kingsbury would be a great hire there.
He won't be out of a job long.

Seth Littrell to Texas Tech makes too much sense. Hopefully North Texas can either promote Graham Harrell or snatch up Kendall Briles before Tx. State.

I saw a report that Texas Tech isn’t reaching out to Litrell.

RE: Fired Coaches Thread
Wasn't Mack Brown at UNC when UTex hired him? Maybe he will hire his big brother as OC this time.
Also, WKU was useful as a rebound job for Petrino once before. Will they give him another chance to do it all over again?

Silly on TTU's part, excellent news for CUSA and UNT.

There are rumors on Twitter that the money people at Auburn are working towards getting rid of Gus and have an established, Jimbo Fisher type hire they have been talking to.

Bring Bob Stoops out of retirement? Not sure what big names they expect to leave another top flight P5 head job.

Probably taking another secret flight to Louisville.

Auburn might as well be pissing in the wind.
Not going to stop that machine at Alabama.
Not too interesting a job when you can get thrown under the bus a year after beating Alabama.

It's not an attractive job. The expectations are too high. They think they are an elite program, when they really aren't. It never ends well. Ask Tater Tot, Tuberville, Chizik, and now Malzahn.

Not sure what qualifies as elite but they're definitely a top tier program. Makes sense that they'd reach out to Stoops.

In the past decade, there have been a total of 12 teams that have played for a national championship. There have been 4 teams that have played in multiple national championship games. There have been 5 teams to win the championship. Auburn falls into all three of those categories. They are an elite program based on a lot of factors that give them the potential to be great- they just aren't an elite team right now, and when they are an elite team, they can't sustain it. The similarities between Clemson and Auburn are striking, and look at what they're doing up there. Auburn's problem is that their university/board/boosters, etc. are a train wreck. From the jetgate attempt to hire Petrino all the way down to the ridiculous buyout that Malzahn has- it is one stupid decision after another. Under the right circumstances, Auburn could be what Clemson is right now, and I don't think anyone would say Clemson isn't elite. All that being said, Gus isn't going anywhere this year. Total buyout, including assistants, is (from what I've heard) nearly $40 million. I don't see that happening. I think the rumors you're hearing is Auburn fans' wishful thinking.

As long as Alabama is on top of them, Auburn isn't elite.
If Alabama F's up by hiring a Shula, Price, etc. then Auburn can temporarily hit eliteness.

"Insider" scoop is that Auburn has a deal in place with Bob Stoops. Now they're trying to strong-arm Malzahn into taking another job. I think everything is about to fall through and Auburn is going to be stuck with Malzahn for an incredibly awkward 2019 season.
I have been a big Malzahn fan since he came to Auburn in 2009 and this is exactly what I was worried about when he came. I hope he moves on quickly so I can be a fan of wherever he ends up.

Too bad he didn't take that Arkansas gig last year. He seems to be a good guy.......wish him the best.
