I certainly don't disapprove of him telling EO who is the boss. Applewhite has made his share of mistakes this year, but telling EO he doesn't get to pick and choose when he plays isn't one of them.

ALL the other players are running the SAME injury risk, but EO must think his NFL draft projection gives him super duper special status, allowing him to half-ass it through the games he did play this year until the injury and then try to save it all for the last game of the season.

When EO opted not to pay against SMU, it was clear to me he lost interest in the team's fortunes and was purely focused on his own fortune.

Time to jettison him, he's becoming a divisive distraction. Let him go get ready for the draft on his own dime.

No one is talking about it nationally, but Ed is fine, as has been instructed to not play, right?

Don't blame Major at all.

Applewhite had the right to tell Ed to take off the jacket 100%. Ed was wrong today.

But the rest of your post is pure garbage. Ed went 100% in the games he played. Half the time he was being triple teamed this year. Don't question the kids heart. If the reports are to be believed, he wanted to play next week. Kid hadn't fully quit on the team but even if he did that's his decision.

You aren’t allowed to have an agent while in college.

You'd have to have been delusional to just expect a NY6 bowl this year.

It's on ESPN 8: The Ocho!

Also, what in the world was Ed Oliver thinking? Seriously, over a jacket, too. My wife was saying that his actions, including his bouncing and running around during pregame, have told her he cares more about his ego than the team. He cares about what he could get in the pros than making sure the team he's currently on has the best chance to win. His blatant overreaction to Applewhite enforcing a team rule should be a red flag to NFL teams.

Now then, Major Applewhite does have some responsibility to bear, too. He could've nipped this in the bud last week by saying to Oliver that if he (Oliver) is good enough to bounce around and act like a crazy person before the game, he can go suit up. That said, this is mostly Ed Oliver's fault. If he's been cleared to play, then he should be playing. If he's not going to do that, then send his butt home. That's what I would've done. (And maybe now, it might happen.)

Therefore, It's 80% Oliver, 20% Applewhite. However, in my opinion, this should hurt his draft stock.

D'Eriq King, on the other hand, should not hang his head. Freak injuries happen all the time, regardless of athletic ability. Heck, all it takes is for someone to step wrong and you can either break a bone in your foot or sprain your ankle. And you don't have to be an athlete (elite or otherwise) to suffer a freak injury. I feel bad for the kid. He'll bounce back by next year though.
