There's a part of me that wishes these boards wouldn't explode after every loss. We weren't expected to win this game. We got destroyed, though, so I get it, it doesn't feel good. Just gets weird that the first loss we just automatically start attacking each other. This place is getting slowly more and more toxic.

Looking forward to the day-after intelligent conversation about why we lost and what we do moving forward!

Numbers that stood out to me: Stith was 4 of 13 from the field and Dickens and Robinson combined for 1 rebound in 27 minutes. And while I agree the refs didn’t do us any favors I don’t think the game was close enough for that to matter. Overall it did look like more of the same - a dearth of offense for much of the game. We haven’t been able to really overcome those offensive struggles since T Freeman was here. The upside here still looks amazing but we need to put this together quickly before our non-conference schedule gets away from us and we lose all hope of those much needed quality wins.

Give it up man, it was never going to happen. The schedule isn’t good and the team isn’t that good. The coach isn’t that good either.
Team may not be great. I say its a little of a stretch to say the schedule isn't decent lol

UNI, VCU, URI all expecting to have down years. Syracuse is the only strong OOC opponent left. We needed this... oh well. Another season where the last 3 games are all that matter. Oh, forgot about pods. So maybe just conference games matter, then.
If we beat Oregon State, we likely get Missouri. If we beat them, we likely get Kansas State. Not likely to happen, but it can still be an at large schedule. If it did happen, this loss would not be a liability.

If we get to the end of Feb and only have 5-6 losses we will be in. Just sucks to miss a good opportunity so early when the margin for error is so small. There is still hope. I figured this was a loss, but it would have been nice to keep it under 10 since that’s a factor now. But we will be OK.

The silver lining is we proved we can play at that level on the last 10 minutes of the 1st half. Granted, the defense sucked, but all in all that was a very entertaining stretch. I don't understand why we can't be consistent.

No one cares what you wish or what you think.

I was right about this team and right about jones as per usual.

If anyone needs to carry their A’s it’s you and Jeff and anyone else who defends this crap as good enough because YOU are the ones who are not real fans, comprende hombre?

A middle child I wager...

Dude is built like a giant beast and he plays so timid, has too soft of a touch and can't finish from a foot away. It's only two games so far, but I'm starting to think his only role is getting the tipoff - and he screwed that up tonight too.

One positive note - another game where Green seems to be playing with much better confidence. I hope he keeps it up.

There were enough comments on BJ already. We need consistency from him if we are going to do anything. If he disappears during our CUSAT we are done.

This was a disappointing loss as a win would have given us hope that this year could be different. Their freshman tore up Caver. Caver is our best player. Does anything else need to be said? I keep thinking this team looks good until we play good teams. Fact is, we don't compare at all to these guys. We'd be a middling A10 team alongside VCU if we were part of that conference.

Two games in... lots of stuff can happen. But so far, my optimism is quite low. The scoring droughts seem to happen each and every year... it's mental.

We all knew he was limited offensively. But it appears he also can't play defense.

People talking about the season being over is ridiculous. However talking about each game as an opportunity to demonstrate your abilities and to help build a resume is very valid. With a schedule that is not heavily loaded with resume building opportunities you must take advantage of EVERY opportunity. We lost one last night. St. Joes is very likely an NCAA team. In our OOC portion of our schedule we have essentially 2 maybe 3 more opportunities. We need to win all of them including Syracuse.

Its best to ignore the posters that thrive on OdU losses. They are easy to spot. First and foremost, they enjoy coming to the boards after losses while most dread it bc we all know its going to be a train wreck.

I am willing to wait on Robinson but I have never been impressed. We rebounded ok as a team but it is certainly surprising that robinson got zero. Hes just too slow. He does have some post moves and can score in the paint on post ups, but thats not out game and its not the college game at all. Play more Dickens with the drbble drive offense and. Ot worry about post ups.

We shot well from 3 but our issue offensively was when we didnt shoot threes we didnt effectively drive to basket. Caver was the only one drawing free throws (11 total, 8 from him). Our guys are out of control and theow up off balance layups instead of going up strong and drawing fouls. Godwin isnt gonna draw fouls but we need guys like BJ, Green, and Kithcart (if healthy) to do so when driving to the hole.

Offense was not great but weve won plenty of games with .94 ppp. Defense was a pathetic. Way too many easy lanes to the basket. Help defense was poor. Im hoping that is just the bigs learning rotations.

Marshall will destroy us with the defense we played last night.

To be clear I'm not saying the season is over. This team will still be fun to watch. Caver farewell tour. But really can't say we are at large worthy right now, our conference allows for very little error. We have 6 players who weren't on our court last year and apparently some injuries. Looking to see how these guys respond

So far I would have to say my main disappointment is with the two "BIG" guys (Robinson & Dickens). I do like having their height on the floor but would be nice if they were more productive on either end. Although both are better that what we had going into the season. Carver doesn't need to start. I would start Azipke or Godwin over Carver. BJ needs to get his stroke back and soon. Caver can't carry it all by himself. I have no problems with the rest of the team.

St Joes is probably better than Marshall. They actually play defense and have bigs.
