So you want to make the mistake of not believing in Clark? His eye for talent? Coaching? Roster moves? We've got a QB rushing the passer and getting sacks. We got a LB making catches and burning defenses.
And you got a coach that’ll be gone next year....
Damn, we got some salty tonight.

It’s just the way it is in our little world. He loaded up and collected a check for 3 years and only coached one. A pretty good deal in anyone’s book. But if he wins out the big boys come calling with the big bucks and prestige. Hard to say no to that. Just sayin’. Ask WKU....and us.
We'll see.

I dont think so. It is common knowledge that NCAA relaxed the transfer and schloarship rules for UAB to re-start their program. That has very little to do with coaching but just much more physicality than any other CUSA team.
Frank Wilson is right, UAB has the oldest team in FBS full of 5th and 6th year transfers. That is short term fix and leads to immediate success but is no way to sustain a program.
Remember UAB lost to freaking Coastal Carolina. Tech doesnt have the offense to beat UAB and there is no way to grind out a win against team with that many older players.

I just don't think he respects Clark's eye for talent. That's not to say that every year will be great, but at least he has them competing for championships. Will it be a consistent thing? Hopefully. Will he still be coaching in Bham in two years? Hopefully. You never know what will happen down the line. But for now, the future looks bright at UAB.

Not that. Tech has gone the juco route before, with many seniors and the next year was a disaster.
UAB is a unique situation, which probably will not happen again, with the NCAA relaxing the transfer and scholarship rules. It was a landing spot for the all the P5 troubled or not playing transfers. Having that many older players, seniors and transfers is really unprecedented. I think the drop-off for UAB will be even more profound

With 35 seniors there is no way to fill your roster with the next class either. You will be at least 10 scholarships short. That will severely limit your depth in upcoming years. Clark knows this better than anyone.

So, we snuck up on people last year.
This year, we're fielding an NFL D-league team.
What will the story be next year, I wonder.

A drop-off no doubt. But if Clark is still there, a winning record, or at least a 6-6 record is very doable. Like I said, you never know where the dominos might fall, but UAB has to enjoy the ride. Especially, given what they've been through. I'm not a UAB fan, but root for them. I'm a Memphis fan second, but this is my particular take on what's been building there, since he took over. A good coach always finds a way to win with what is given, and Clark seems up to the challenge.

Will we have a repeat of this season? I highly doubt it. Will we become the worse team in the conference? LOL. Keep dreaming. Our biggest concern will be the D-line and pass rushing. We will lose all the top pass rushers and the hybrid Jack LB/DE players. That doesn't mean Clark doesn't have a plan. We'll have to wait and see.

These 3 things are true: Clark is an excellent coach and motivator (USM had an eye on him, and he on USM..if you believe some reports); lots of guys on here are jealous of U-aye-bay's success and look for an excuse; and yes, the recruiting advantages DID help, but c'mon, I doubt if it is as great an advantage as some folks believe.
Congrats UAB, we tore you a new one for many years...and now you have our number....I just hope our young and undisciplined team can hang in there for a quarter, at least!

Let's be clear. I hope we beat the brakes off you guys next week, but USM is our oldest rivalry in our short history, and I don't know whether it means as much to you guys as it does to us, but it's what we have.
USM has been the standard by which a lot of UAB football fans have measured themselves over the years, and I have nothing but respect for the program and its fans.
I hope we get your best game and see what happens, and that any traveling fans enjoy the 'ham and have save travels.

Been to B'ham many times (especially when Bama used to play half their home games there)...love the BBQ, the beer, the golf (way back when my "arthur"-itis was under control) and Milo's tea!
Game probably doesn't mean as much to USM, but that is no excuse for getting our azzes beat...just hope if you lose your corch, you don't go thru 9 brazillion "rebuilding" years like USM....Jeff Bowah kept us steady, but with too many 6-5 and 7-4 years, so we got what we wanted at first, but looks like we made a deal with the devil we can never take back!

I said after the first game that our team looked very mature. I don't see the old player complaint as an excuse, because it may be a small part of the success. Here's the real secret. Clark and the whole staff participate in a complete training program for the players. From workouts, to diet, to recovery plans. It's his attention to details that makes us great. You may think we are going to become young, but our young players don't look young because they are actually being broken down and rebuilt in Clark's secret laboratory.
