Sounds like the same deal the ACC offered MSG before the BE signed it's long term deal. I expect the B1G to have even less luck that the ACC had because at least when the ACC offered, MSG wasn't under contract to the BE.

MSG doesn't need elevating.

The ACC is in a far better position than the B1G to get its tournament in MSG and we haven’t been able to so far.

MSG is in the driver's seat with three of the Top 5 or 6 basketball conferences wanting access.

I could see them opening up the arena to the highest bidder in 2 year blocks.

Appreciate the Syracuse love but until we start playing well enough to get out of the second round, it's immaterial where the tourney is played.

But I think you sell the ACC short, at least in terms of the semi-finals and final rounds. The two years the tourney was held in Barclays those rounds exceeded the arena's capacity.

The second round and quarters were supposedly capacity but they definitely were not full in either year, but mostly full. It takes time. The new Big East did okay attendance its first three years at MSG, but have improved over the past two years, though still not filling it up to capacity except for the semis and the final rounds.

The BE averaged 18,790?? That means the Wednesday play-in games and Thursday first round had to be at near capacity.

Meanwhile, the Big East has grown into great attendance for MSG. Here is the average per session over the past 5 years of the new Big East's existence:

2014 - 14,556
2015 - 13,939
2016 - 15,644
2017 - 17,556
2018 - 18,790

It did take them a little bit of time to build to where they are now.

Wow, those attendance numbers are truly impressive for the BE. I never thought that they could grow to those numbers without the fb schools but Im glad that they did. Again, truly impressive. Outside of Acc teams, I still enjoy watching several BE teams.

Outside of the Orange, my next favorite college bb team is Nova. I try and watch every game of theirs that I can. Love Jay Wright as a coach.

I'll watch the Hoyas against a name program but mostly to root against them.

That's about it for me in the Big East, except for the Cincy-Xavier game and the Marquette-Wisconsin game.

Delaney is a SIGNIFICANTLY better negotiator than Swofford. The proof is in the pudding. I would not be surprised if MSG makes a deal. It would not be th3 first time Swofford is beaten to the punch.

Delany mentioned NYC for 20% of the time. They already played there and it was not well received. Maybe Swofford figured out something Delany had to learn the hard way.

Well let's just say Delany inherited the better poker hand to begin with and has the more malleable presidents. Delany's more futuristic thinking is a plus though.

More likely, the B1G will just buy their way in - pay the Big East to give up the arena once every five years. The Big East could make some money and use it as an opportunity to rotate to some other locations, starting with Chicago.

Not sure what regular season attendance has to do with this thread. The B1G has the largest average attendance as a conference by far but those home attendances didn't help them when they played their tourney in DC or NYC.
