I can accept this move, and not just because it is mid-season.
Hoping to see a better different defensive scheme (results don't matter much at this point except for seeing what works and what doesn't) and we need to learn to shed blocks and pursue faster.

It's kinda weird you're pressing for proof of the denial of an unreported rumor and not the rumor itself. That's not to say the demotion didn't happen but it just hasn't been reported by anyone who covers ODU.

I'm just needling CMet for kicks.

If it hasn't happened, it's a nice canary trap.

It definitely happened. They are just going to keep it quiet publicly. Don't expect any press.

I believe it. It makes perfect sense. It was time for a new leader of the D. Just thought it was odd he was pressing him so hard. But grommet explained it. So it's all good.

Under our previous defensive coordinator we flew around, but were absolutely crushed by athletic QBs and the triple option because we were always out of place. With Nagy, our guys are almost always in position, but they just can't make the play.

Yes

Most of the big play gains against our D are the result of poor tackling and slow reaction/on field awareness.

On the ECU QB 51 yard TD run, one of the backs was busy looking at an ECU receiver that was already covered by 2 of his teammates when the QB runs right by him. The QB was already several yards past the line of scrimmage and you'd think the player would already react.

In the FAU game, one of our players is standing flatfooted thinking he was out of the play when he realizes the QB is right in front of him with the ball.

I can pick examples from as far back as FCS where our D just can't make plays even when they're in position to do so.

We’re giving up 525 yards per game. It doesn’t get much worse. Time for someone to be held accountable. A fish stinks from the head.

The bad news:
Marshall came into this game averaging 127.2 yards per game on the ground @ 3.7 yards per carry and 5 TDs in five games.
Against us the Herd amassed their highest single game rushing total of the season, 319 yards @ 7.1 yards per carry and 5 TDs.

The good news:
Our defense held Marshall to 501 yards of total offense, 24 yards below our season average of 525.

RE: Fire Rich Nagy
RANT BEGINS: This performance on the field is absolutely pathetic. Looking confused, can't tackle. On Saturday, Marshall gave a clinic on tackling -- their DBs were demonstrating exceptional form, wrapping up and driving through the running backs. We look so inferior in tackling --- pitiful. We didn't come close to their QB, he was standing back there with plenty of time. Our defense is slow, doesn't react well, gets shredded on any type of cutback, can't get a QB run covered, etc. It really is sad getting gashed the way we did in the 4th Quarter.

Offense ...... didn't show up the first half -- the slowest starting team I have ever seen. QB was off throws, OL didn't help the cause, run game was pathetic, and overall a piss poor performance.

We can debate all day long, but I feel that it starts with coaching -- we are being outcoached enormously. Seems like we just gave up in the 4th Qtr???? Disappointing to say the least. You can fire all the assistant coaches you want, but that has achieved nothing -- time to get the HC queued up for replacement. The promises are running out of time --- like just wait, we need to get through a complete recruiting cycle --- what next?

Actually getting to be somewhat of an embarrassment, wondering what team is going to show up. Also, getting tired of watching the undressed players on the sideline having a party, dancing around, smoking and joking when the team is getting their asses kicked on the field --- celebration is not a good look when you are getting stomped on the field.

Now the 'new stadium' -- tired of hearing that the new stadium will magically transform us to a winning program -- rubbish, the field is exactly the same dimensions and material -- if you put the same steaming pile of excrement on a new field, it still stinks and will get beat. RANT OVER!

RE: Fire Rich Nagy
No one is expecting the new stadium to transform the team. In fact, next year was supposed to be our rebuilding year since certain seniors are graduating. Next year is most likely going to be more of the same. But for the fans who attend every game, the thought of a substantially upgraded facility (...not having to use a port-a-john in the stadium or have knees in your back) is something to look forward to. I will continue to support this program and focus on the positives. Which, hopefully, includes some coaching changes.

Marshall had the ball around mid-field facing a 3rd down and 4. Our corners pressed the two wideouts on each side of the field (and to me, THAT was shocking). But the back covering the slot receiver was 10 yards off the line of scrimmage. Guess which receiver caught a quick pass for a first down. 03-banghead03-banghead
