RE: IT'S GAME DAY!!! Week 6, HOMECOMING, vs. Tulane Gamethread!
Having been "out-of-pocket" all day, I am pretty happy with the result!
I figured we'd win this one, but, hot damn! We're going bowling.
(Not only that, but frequently throughout the day the broadcasters in West Virginia referred to the UC-Tulane score and commented over and over, "Cincinnati is 5-0/6-0 and they're not getting ranked? How's that possible?" I'm surprised they even noticed much less taking up our banner...)

Agree. Think how good he can get with more reps and more seasons...
That!
Ridder is the real deal.
Warren is the perfect example of how to use a great back. Give him the ball, give him the ball and eventually he will break one.
We have some serious talent at running back - and Doaks is not available. Purely amazing.

Did we miss out on somebody besides Burrow? Burrow broke my football heart, but it looks like things might be turning out for the best anyhow with how Ridder is coming along. Although it was interesting to see Ridder finally have a mild case of Haydenitis with pop up interception and sack/fumble (luckily recovered by UC). Hayden also had at least one pass bounce high off the receiver's hands before luckily landing where nobody was around.

RE: IT'S GAME DAY!!! Week 6, HOMECOMING, vs. Tulane Gamethread!
Just back from a long day after the game. I have not read the entire thread. Did anybody figure out the last time UC blocked a punt? Edit - The Enquirer article answered my question - "t was UC's first blocked punt since Connor Barwin did it against UConn in 2008"
I was disappointed in the kickoff coverage today. That needs to be fixed.
The game was great except for the weirdness in the third quarter.

10 years.
The crowd looked great today. What did you think of the consecutive 4th down tries by each team?

There was the Gibson from Ohio State the year before that never worked out.

What is the status of Malik Vann and Michael Warren ? Also I must have missed something but how come I never see Kevin Mouhon's name in the stat sheet? Happy we have a bye week.

Mouhon has been hurt since spring ball, and may be able to apply for a medical waiver for a 6th year.

Ridder got hit from his blindside right as he was releasing the ball on the INT. I will say that Ridder did not have his A game today. Not saying he played poorly by any means but he missed a few throws where the receiver had his man beat. I also thought the playcalling was a bit suspect at times. Running the ball with 10 in the box, throwing deep on 3rd down instead of trying to keep the chains moving, etc. I loved the shovel pass to Warren though.

Fickell has done it all year, behind and ahead, he said in his first press conference after the Ucla win that the biggest lesson of his first year as head coach was they had to play much more aggressive offensively. You have to get the most out of your possessions and field position.

To be 6-0 and to continue to have correctable flaws gives me hope for this team. My pessimistic side thinks we will finish 8-4. This fact makes me think we could finish 9-3 or 10-2. I was hoping for 6-6 to show improvement. This team is a year ahead of my expectations.

That was the most impressed I've been with ridder all year. Tulane has a decent defense and ridder was asked to so more than he has been. I thought he made some tough tight window throws. I thought his receivers didn't help him early but he fought through it. Honestly for how well we moved the ball we probably scored less than we should have.

I think the fact that they're as young as they are and the pieces are still coming together and solidifying, means we probably haven't hit our ceiling for this season yet.
It's been a blast to watch them, mainly because I had no expectations coming into this season.
