Well, after reading this entire thread I am happy to see that you all retained your composure throughout the entire game as well as the entire team and coach, regardless of lack of luster outstanding statistics, with the exception of the defensive team, who prevented La Tech from scoring for three quarters. Outstanding, to say the least. Obviously offensive and defensive linemen are quite experienced beasts who are carrying the team, as the season progresses. Coach Clark is one smart cookie, down the stretch. Quite the strategist. So happy to see 4-1 record, at this point and time.

Erdely does deserve some credit for not completely crumbling and coming back and making enough plays to get us through.

But it was the defense and Spencer Brown that deserve most of the accolades for this huge road win. Got to get our offense fixed.

And I still don't understand why aren't kicking field goals when we are in range.

I have only been following UAB since 2005, but I can't remember a more dominant and inspiring performance by our defense on the road.

RE: Game Thread: La. Tech edition
I stand by my early comments about Erdely, but he deserves a ton of credit for playing through and leading the team even when he didn’t have it last night. It was a fantastic game to watch, and it’s a great indicator of how good the team can be when it’s firing on all cylinders.

I have to wonder if AJ is playing injured somehow? He was missing some throws last night that went way beyond puzzling. Maybe it’s just the yips but comparing last week’s masterful performance with last night’s raises questions as to whether his arm is being temperamental or if he’s actually struggling with motion.

Regardless, I commend him for his efforts last night and hope he gets to enjoy some less frustrating games in the near future!

What AJ lacked last night in execution he obviously made up for in leadership. There are some intangibles that have to be taken into consideration. It doesn’t matter how minor the injury, when you have to be escorted off by officials because you’re pouring blood and insisting on continuing the drive, that’s a guy I want leading my team. That’s the guy I want to follow.

Clark sticking with AJ was a good move.

Street really gave us a lift off the bench in the first half. Looked like he got dinged up and didn't come back in. Hope he's ok. Stanley also played well in limited action.

#22 for UAB was involved in some wicked collisions. It was a hard hitting game. I'm guessing the ice baths will get full time use today.

when your 0-10 with a pick its time to sit for a series. see what the back up can do to spark the team and give the starter time to compose himself.

This offense is going to get us beat. The rest of the team is ready to win a championship. AJ is who he is. Good, not great. Also a winner. He has the potential to look great against bad teams, but just mediocre against good teams. Maybe the wet field and ball made him look worse. The question I'm asking myself now, is do we have a Tua hiding on the bench?

We don't pay well enough for that kind of bench depth.

i wondered the same about an injury...i thought (although not sure) that on the sidelines i saw the training working with him...looked like they were under his shoulder pads.
i wonder if he has some sort of rib issue leaving him unable to follow through. realeasing the ball too high can really make those short throws sail. but aside from that, he sure didnt run or act like he was worried about aggravating an injury

Looked to me physical. I think he is more banged up than was let on and I also think that first INT messed with him. The ball was hit as he threw it. I suspect rice we will be a heavy road favorite and won’t cover but can still win handily. I suspect I won’t be reading the game thread becaue folks will be losing their minds and I’ll be there to be half the attendance on that side of the stadium. I suspect more TJ getting snaps at Rice. We need a healthy qb in two weeks. We will get UNTs A game. Defense just needs to keep progressing. I am reminded of the Steel Shield. Youngsters look it up.

Just TCOB in Houston.

When Brown burst through the line I thought of a run by Corey White against Memphis long ago. Both great moments in Blazer football history!

Lordie me,, I remember that run by Corey... and you are right,, the burst by Brown, after a bit of a hesitation or stutter step, and then,, ZOOM,, straight to the promised land....

Looked to me, from the stands there, that that first INT occurred after AJ's throwing arm got hit as he was releasing the ball ( if so that would have injured him ). Didnt remember if they showed any replay on the scoreboard or not so I cant be sure my perception of the play is correct or not.

Yes, intercepted after his arm was hit while throwing.

!

Quick thoughts after long drive home -

That 2nd half especially the 4th qtr was a statement. You might not be able to tell but this was a defensive battle from both sides though ours kept their qb uncomfortable all night & we've been doing that all yr w/ 3-4 man rushes. I think this might be more of a rivalry game than USM, it at least has that feeling to me. Rough start but great finish. NT offense will get tested this weekend vs USM D which is only other CUSA team allowing under 100pts other than us. We could be going into USM game w/ 1 or no conference losses & that might harken to old days of CUSA 1.0 of who can kick the most fgs to win. No problems w/ fans while I was there & it was nice drive over.

Probably means Samoan boxer David Tua. Would make a great sideline bodyguard for Jennifer Clark:
