RE: LD replacement
I think JaQuon Parker moving up to a coaching spot is the most likely scenario. Already have an associate head coach in Savino (got promoted in April 2018 to co-associate). If Parker has done a good job (which I assume he has or he shouldn't still be on the staff) then Cronin can get a former player on the staff and promote from within. I think it would be easier to replace a program assistant than a staff. One caveat - if there is a top assistant Cronin could poach or a former HC who can bring recruiting relationships and experience - I'd take them over Parker.

The former player I'd love to see as a coach is the power forward from the Leonard Stokes era. Was an incredible passer out of the high post; high basketball IQ. Blanking on his name.

Stokes played three years with Logan ... I thought Logan was one of the best on-court game generals we had. I believe he's been out of basketball since he was released early on from the pros.

If you follow twitter at all you'd know there's no way Mick and Logan would coach together. 03-lol03-lol:

The pining away for a former player to be hired as an assistant coach is so Cincinnati.

Get a guy who can get some high level talent. Cronin has forged at top 20-25 program. To become a top 10-20 type program, UC has to get better players overall.

Logan is not a fan of Mick's brand of ball.

Immanuel McElroy?
Jason Maxiell?
Jamal Davis?
Donald Little?

Just curious to whom you might be referring...

I'd vote for Donald Little. He can duct tape the recruit to a chair and burn him with a hot coat hanger until he signs his LOI.

Huggs repeatedly talked about how Jamaal Davis would make a great coach.

With Cronin it's always more of the same. This is the kind of outside-the-box thinking that this program needs! 04-bow

Looking at UC's current recruiters, Savino is a NY/NJ guy and Antwon Jackson is a Philly guy. Is that it? Davis recruited the southeast, mostly, right? I don't think that's a natural area for UC, so I don't think they necessarily need to get an assistant who has connections there. Is there some big time AAU coach in Ohio or maybe Indy that would fit here? Some young assistant at a smaller program that would want a step up? I'm completely unknowledgeable about this stuff.

More southern vs. southeast. He recruited Jacob Evans out of Louisiana and Trevor Moore out of Houston. He nabbed Justin Jackson out of Florida, and I am pretty sure the Georgia kids like Cashmere Wright were Davis guys-- although some quarrel over whether Florida and Georgia are southeast or the south.

Jamaal Davis is the player I was thinking about. He was one of my favorites. He was senior with Logan. That was one of my favorite teams. Loved I-Mac too.

Not really big on any former players unless it's someone who has some skin in the game already like NVE. We really need a guy with some recruiting chops. Otherwise go the route of hiring a players Dad.
