While I would love see Satterfield stay at App. It was a smart move on their part, I imagine it also increased the buyout that any school that tries to hire him will have to pay to App.

Its an ambush, so many zeros after any P5 announces they want him they got to ask every member of the fanbase to wager their 401k.

He'ss a good coach and should be paid well. But suspect App is not doing so. If he isn't a minimum million plus bonus, he's underpaid.

He has earned it, if its not 1M+ he is underpaid. UNC has that in their wallet right now.

I doubt he would leave while his kids are in school at Watauga. They are likely too involved in the community to uproot them at this stage of their formative years. However long until the youngest graduates is likely as long as Scott sticks around.

UNC hasn't been bad because of Fedora, they've been bad because players made dumb decisions in the offseason including selling free apparel.

The AD and president usually dont fire themselves though.

UNC is performing at their historic average. No need for them to stir the pot.

Not sure Satt will go to UNC considering we play them in week 3 next year. That's a graveyard for football coaches, and I doubt they look to the G5 after the failed Fedora tenure.

And if they do go the G5 route, they may look to NT's Littrell since he has spent a couple seasons coaching there.

Certainly has NT doing well and UNC took a straight nose dive after he left. He is from the midwest though. Both Sat and him will be getting some attention if they keep it going. UNC pays Fedora 2.29M. Before the extension Satt was at a reported 675K an Littrell 991K for 2017.

UNC ain't hiring Sat. Not only would they have to pay Sat and his buyout, they'd have to pay Fedora BIG time.

Fedora's buyout as listed on IC.

Buyout after 2017: $17,500,000
Buyout after 2018: $14,000,000
Buyout after 2019: $10,500,000
Buyout after 2020: $7,000,000
Buyout after 2021: $3,500,000
Buyout after 2022: $0

If they fire Fedora, they probably want no part of his coaching tree.

Last year he was at UNC they went 11-3 and 8-0 in conference and he has taken NT from 5-8 to 9-5 to 4-0 right now. He has scored no less than 40 points in four games this year while holding every other team to less than 23 points. They could go undefeated this year as they already routed an SEC team. He did not come from Fedora as he had many other stops before UNC and working with Fedora.

They would be dumb not to have him as a viable candidate. Same with Satt once that buy out is manageable.

(I'm not quoting specific numbers but these are relatively close)

I've heard even at $7-8 million a year Nick Saban is making he's still vastly underpaid when compared to how much money having a top football program brings in to the university. I'd be curious to hear a similar analysis for Scott Satterfield.

Guarantee you the university has that information.
