I think NIU can do better than a coach with a 17-31 career record, who's never had a winning season nor reached .500 in conference play.

Yeah, Tuke may be on his way to being fired.

Yeah, Tuke may be on his way to being fired.

I get the impression coach Tuke stepped into a pretty poor program and has taken positive steps and is turning it around. You can't just look at a record. Look at Novak when he got here and maybe three years later-- what was his record? Did that poor record mean he wasn't a really good fit for the job? NO. Coach Tuke should be in the conversation. (Remember, he is the ONLY undefeated NIU head coach in the last ---- actually EVER! And he is undefeated IN BOWL GAMES! NIU 40- Fresno State 17 - and it wasn't that close! )

His best record was 5-7 in his first year with previous coaches players. 3 Wins each of the last 3 years. NIU can do better.

RE: Unofficial Search Committee
I would like to see Hammock, although I do not know if would be interested and what is his salary as the RB coach with the Ravens?

I would really like JL. Yes, I know he is only in his first year as the MCHS head coach and being a great player does not mean he would be a great coach. In addition to JL would love to be here, I say JL for 1 reason-his personality. I think it is often true that a team takes on the personality of its coach. That would seem to be true with Carey; conservative Carey = conservative O and other issues that many are talking about. Who would not want to have our team take on the personality of JL; playing with great heart and determination, etc.! I also think his passion would translate into positives in recruiting.

For many reasons I see Carey being at the heart of most of our issues. I think JL would be risky for STF so he would not do it, but I like the premise of retooling with JL as our leader.

We need to give him a shot before someone else does or we won't get him. I wonder if one of the reasons he left was because he was frustrated with what was happening with the offense. If he did that bodes well for his decision making.

If you're going the former Hawaii QB route how about Dan Robinson the star of 99 Oahu Bowl team?
Craig Stutzman wouldn't be bad either.

Do people really think recycled NIU coaches, players are the solution here? Do we really think it's going to create the stir, change the attitude of the fans, programa and attitude towards the program as a whole? Short of maybe Lynch, who is in no way ready to step up, do people really think recruits are going to be attached, recognize these names? Guys from all over the midwest, country who couldn't even locate NIU on a map until a recruiter points it out?

If PJ can't take the Goofers to big things this year, and after the Maryland game it seems like same ol same ol Minnesota football mediocrity, then PJ may be available down the line. Probably not the next NIU coach but when his boats sinks here in Minneapolis and he takes an OC job at an AAC school, NIU will look mighty attractive.

We could use a hot shot FCS coach that has somewhat of an offensive mind. Or just a smart Football mind. Carey’s Football IQ sucks. Someone young that will energize the program.

Would Brady Hoke make more in the NFL than the Huskies could pay him?

Speaking of energy, Carey looked like he was in a coma Saturday.

He was. He only came out of it to yell at the players.

For those of you who want someone making changes and progress without too many resources, read this story.

I heard this guy interviewed on XM radio. He sounds like the real deal. Hope his success continues and he is rewarded for it. Thanks for posting.

I am glad I did not have anything to throw at the TV, because I would have broken the TV. I think he was yelling at players after the kick out of bounds immediately after botching the whole 2 point thing. Someone on twitter this week made an excellent point that Carey is aggressive when he should be conservative and conservative when he should be aggressive. I have never seen anything like this in my life. After last year's 4th and 18 fake at 8 yard, I have to ask myself, is he trying to get fired?

You beat me to it - didn’t see the article but came here to post this exact coach!

1-45 (2013-2016)
[Austin Peay hires Will Healy]
8-4 (8-1 vs FCS)
2-2 (2-1 vs FCS)

If NIU can beat everyone to the punch, Will Healy is a no-brainer.

New Entry...

Minnesota WR Coach Matt Simon

Here are some people who have found success with his coaching...

Rutgers -
Brandon Coleman - NOLA Saints
Janarion Grant - Bal Ravens
Leontee Carroo - Formerly of the MIA Dolphins

WMU -
Corey Davis - Ten Titans
Daniel Braverman - Formerly of the Chi Bears

And he's an NIU alum, and from what I've seen in interviews, is fairly intense.

Might be good?
