I really don't like the idea of playing Lala in this game. He should only play 3 more games this year, and I'd save him for a game that we actually have a slim chance to win. His play could be the difference vs. ECU, WKU, MTSU or Rice. Keep him strong and healthy for the game against ECU. If I can only pick one win this season (assuming its not VT), Id pick ECU. Even over VMI.

I would be surprised if he redshirts; especially if he has another good game. You dont play him week 3 if you are expecting him to redshirt.

The coaching staff won't get to use redshirtsled talent as an excuse at the end of the year. I expect them to throw whatever talent they have out there to salvage this year.

He is a very talented RB and a great get for the program, but he will never be able to display his talent with the current OL group.

Interesting that there is no mention of the QB position in that article (sarcasm).

I mean, if they do make that change, I'd prefer they didn't make that public.

I don't know if that'll help our secondary. It has gotten ate up quite a few times this year. Not because of athleticism but because of blown coverage or miss-communication with sidelines. I've seen a lot of palms to the air before the O snaps the ball this season. We're starting 1 RS F, 2 RS So, and a RS Jr at CB so can't get too much younger than that, and I don't know if that's talent. I saw just a lot of confusion at times.

I'd also like to hear how Mayo, Fitzgerald, and are looking in practice at WR.

Finished reading article: glad he's shuffling the CB's around.

I'd like to see the freshman WRs get some run. However, Fitzgerald suffered a foot injury during the summer. He was expected to miss most of the season. I do think he's back practicing, just don't know if we should expect him to play.

Not shocked at CB as Boykin and Hall played last game.

Young has been quiet this year.

Shocked about Guards/Center. Clarke was so good prior to this year.

RE: Game 4: VT @ ODU
Last year I used the term "smoosh" to describe what VT was going to do to us. Just a constant hydraulic press on the team that would quickly squeeze out and expose our many weaknesses. They did just that. But at least back then, once the dust settled, we still had pride and I daresay, hope. (I'm not insulting anyone's overall ((big picture)) pride in ODU or the FB program...it just seemed like we had some bit of momentum then compared to now.)

The story isn't as bright this year. "Smoosh" is a mild way of putting it.

Regardless of whether or not it’s my school .... it is going to be entertaining to see a top 25 team versus what is probably the worst fbs team in the entire country. Like a horrible car wreck, I just gotta see it

To reduce the carnage, expect us to use all the play clock on each down of our offensive possessions. The shorter this game the better.

3 and outs won't do it. To have running play clocks, you have to run the ball which we struggle to do. What is the over under on how many times we cross the 50 yard line o offense. I say 2 and they will be late in the 2nd half against their 2/3 string defense.

I just don't see the logic in him burning a year of eligibility in what will likely be a 2 win season.

He was played in week 3 in a game they should/needed to win vs. Charlotte. He appears to be the best RB on the roster. Do you lose the team if you don't play him when he clearly can play at this level? How would you feel if you were a 5 year senior and the team threw in the towel?

I think best case scenario would be redshirted Davis and having him play 4 years. But, if he's as good as most people think he is, he may not spend his senior year here anyways.

La La Davis first performance vs. UNCC was impressive but it was UNCC nonetheless a bottom of FBS team. Playing Davis vs. a top 15 team on top of a Bud Foster defense is going to be a test of Davis abilities and if Davis rises from this game with good numbers I think we can kiss his redshirt year goodbye anyways.
