It is foolish to provide subsidized college loans for poli sci, women's studies, et al. degrees. Foolish. If your degree won't allow you to get a job to pay back said loan, the loan shouldn't be granted.

Society doesn't owe you the opportunity to get a degree in whatever you want. Play on your money/time for a useless degree.

Don't you see what this is? They take the entire cost of the tax cuts, you know "money going back to the people who actually earned it". And they add that entire sum to the deficit. Never giving any credit to the "real stimulus" it creates for the economy. But they don't add Obama's 789 billion dollar stimulus package to the deficit, do they?

How has a larger federal government benefited any American? How has the Dept of Education improved the life of even one student? How have student loans that are all but un-payable improved one single persons life?

and you guys are the problem. Why don't you think people can't escape poverty and it's generational. Your only hope is a decent education. Your only shot. Republican's have removed themselves from public schools because they can afford a private education. That is concerning to me and I will advocate against it.

Just stop, you're embarrassing yourself. Obama just told us last week he saved our country and that any positive gains in the economy were caused by him alone.

I benefited form subsidized federal loans and a Pell Grant. I went to a poor rural public school. This school maybe gave out 2,000 dollars in scholarships at the end of the year.


The Dept. of Education

Set up guidelines of best practices for quality pre schools and funds research on best practices. This is across the board too K-12.

Improved standards and assessments.

The dept has established rules to ensure teacher prep programs do what’s most important—prepare teachers to do a great job teaching kids, from the first day they step into the classroom. The modeling curriculum I talked about last fall was funded through the Dept. of Ed.

Title 9- If you have a daughter this should be obvious. Girls had nowhere near the opportunities even a generation ago

Title IX has to do with not discriminating against women. It's a federal law that should cost $0 out of the budget.

Civil Rights act is also a federal law that cost $0 to implement.

Education should be run through local school boards, not bureaucrats in DC.

The interest on the federal debt is a wealth destroyer. Congress needs to do some serious cutting next year.
