Bearcat Fans- America's Happiest
Maybe it's the Tubs era in the rearview mirror...or our jubilation over the unexpected win @ the Rose Bowl? Amusing analysis here.
Postings such as this at ESPN create thousands of new impressions nationally. That's a plus for visibility with recruits and fans. What's not to feel good about at 2 and 0?

RE: Bearcat Fans- America's Happiest
Feels odd to me that UC would top this list. I think fans are happy the Tubberville years are done, are generally happy with Fickel as the replacement and are happy with the 2-0 start. But we're still a long way away from where we were in 2008/09 as a 10 win regular top 25 team.

They obviously haven’t read thru one of our game threads.

This is clearly almost all contributed to our near decade and a half of dominance over out one continuous rival...that's why Miami is in last as well if I had to guess. No other team outside Ohio State has anywhere near that level of ownership over their primary rivals.

So far I'm certainly happier than I've been the last two years.

It's because most of the grouches quit after the Nevada game.

Agreed. Problem is, the school we feel is our primary rival (Louisville) won't play us any more. And we lost to them the last two times we played.

Personally, I stopped closely following UC basketball after that game, until Mick starts producing in March... what can I say? I no longer see the point in investing lots of time and emotion into something that can leave me as devastated as that Nevada game, as well as the annual uninspired loss to our only rival. I'll root for them if the game is on, but I'm not going out of my way to follow practice reports, study stats, pay money for tickets, etc. anymore. I doubt it's hurting UC, considering the outstanding season ticket sales, but it may help me maintain my sanity.
Just because I significantly decreased my personal investment into UC basketball doesn't mean I'm not here cheering for UC football and other UC stuff.

I'm happy about football so far. I'll worry about basketball later. But that Nevada collapse fiasco - Cronin is going to have to show the fans he can get beyond that somehow.

With respects to the people that left, I think they were the guys who defended MC the most, and I think with that Nevada loss they saw they were about to a deluge of posts targeting the coaching staff.
They were negative about football but let's be honest- everyone was negative about football the past few years.

So, who are all the posters that left Bearcat Banter besides rath? I defended Cronin after the Nevada loss but admittedly took a break from the "fire threads" and spent my time in the Spin Room. Now, I've taken a break from the Spin Room LOL!
Anywho, I'm a happy camper right now. Big D_ck Fick is doing exactly what I thought he'd do with our football program - just a tad ahead of schedule. He's helped me to put the Ghost of Cadaver's Past in the rear view mirror. To me, as a glass half full kinda' guy, the football program is still rising with a strong trajectory over the next several years. Basketball? Can't really think about it right now but having a renovated arena has to help build some excitement this year even with the horrific loss to Nevada.

I swore off this board after the Nevada game and then found myself starting the game thread for the Canadian scrimmages a few months later. Just when I think I'm out...

The average poster's expectation on here is a New Years Day Bowl Win and an NCAA Championship. No one here is ever happy. That's why it's kind of funny when I saw this on Twitter yesterday.

This post alone shows low aspirations. The semifinals are on December 29, not New Year's Day. If we're not playing Alabama or Ohio State on the 29th for a chance at the finals, we need to consider whether Fickell is the right man for the job. Or something.
Okay, I'll take Troy in the Cure Bowl.

Awesome! My two favorite teams are 1st and 2nd! Oh, and I noticed they had "hot seat" on there with CLF being 1% chance being fired, reminded me of a prior post I put on here where CLF was #4 on the Coaches "hot seat". He's down to #13 now after the 2-0 start.

I don't necessarily think that's true.
Some us on here (me... in particular) try to point out the positives of our programs and that our coaches are not total idiots. Yes, those on here who are like the two old guys from the balcony on the muppet show always show up to tell us how stupid we are, but so what.
If you were a UC fan watching us take brutal beatings at the hands of the Bowling Green's of the world in a crumbling Nippert and then went to watch a 3-28 basketball team in the musty old Cincinnati gardens with the humiliation of playing on Xavier's court... you're quite happy with the state of UC athletics at the moment.
