I've always heard they have never gotten along. I'm sure this isn't the first time.

I'm really surprised to find they don't get along. I thought they always seemed to be getting along in the booth, and I got the sense they genuinely liked each other. I've always gotten the sense Mario and Kirk Gibson have beef. I guess I was off on this one. Very disappointed to see my uncles Rod and Mario feuding.

That is bad.

Have to wonder if the channel's "Pick the Sticks" competition has anything to do with it?

That really is too bad. I like them both on the broadcast. When Rod started broadcasting Tigers games many years ago I thought he was goofy, but honestly, the guy is great, and incredibly knowledgeable. I can't stand Gibby in the booth. He is terrible. Rod has always seemed like a real good guy too. I'm bummed. I wondered why they started putting Gibby and Jack Morris in the booth instead of Rod a couple years ago, and I hated it.

Hope they find a way to patch things up.

I know this is off topic but regarding FS Detroit broadcasting for wings games, ken Daniels and Mickie Redmond are awesome but when Osgood is on, he’s brutal.

What’s brutal is Kirk Gibson....granted he has a lot of baseball knowledge and good grasp of baseball strategy but his delivery is monotone and boring he is a snoozer. I know some will say the guy has Parrkisnsons well he had a dull and boring delivery before he was diagnosed.Ifthey fire Mario and Rod please no Kirk Gibson for 162 games. Hire a professional broadcaster.

I just assumed it had something to do with that contentious relationship, which has been murmured around town for several years (but not as "open" in the media as it is now, post-fight).

If they are both somehow reinstated in the booth, that first day back will be the highest-rated Tigers game of the season outside of Opening Day.

Well, if it happened here, Hook has size and presumably a good right hook, Creeker has speed...

Maybe you're on to something,
tv ratings have been dismal for tiger games could this be a media stunt to boost ratings?03-nutkick

I heard back in the day, George Kell and Al Kaline challenged each other to a rap battle. But it never came to blows. Just some freestyle diss rhyming at each other.

Are the announcers employed by Fox or the Tigers?
