FB Best Wins All time
Does UCLA make the list?
Someone with a great database or memory will nail this better.
The win over Ron Dane WI
Beating #9 Rotgers
Payback thumping Louisville
Win over Pitt for Sugar Bowl
Victories over VT
Beating SEC Vandy in Liberty Bowl
Big win over Oregon State

The win over Pitt was the best football game ever played (my humble opinion, and I was there.)

RE: FB Best Wins All time
Beating unranked and likely a 2-3 win UCLA team would go at the bottom of the list of "marquee" wins.
There are quite a fer wins over ranked Pitt, USF, Ville, Rutgers, WVU and even a ranked win over ECU that I would put over the UCLA win. Lets not forget a nice win over a ranked Miami at Nippert.
This game likely ranks slightly higher than the win over Illinois, Purdue, and Fresno St.

The Wisconsin game is bigger than the UCLA game, IMO.
But this is a great win.

In my lifetime it would go Pitt 09, Duke 12, Vanderbilt 11, Wisconsin 99, Rutgers 06, 07, 08 and 09 usf 06 and 07, 09, UConn 09, wvu 08 and 09 Oregon st 08 and 09, virginia tech 95 and 12. The only possible flubby win to make the list may have been Miami, but it was pretty meaningless and they were not very good.

I agree. This isn't exactly one of Terry Donohue's outifts from back in the day, that we just knocked off.
But, I think the big thing about the win is, not about the name on their jersey, as much as where UC football has been over the last few years. On that merit, I'm certainly enjoying this :)

Great game, but unless UCLA goes on to shock everyone on the upside, it’s just another win against another unranked and unproven opponent. UCLA was not good last year, and not much is expected of them this year. I loved last night’s win, but let’s not diminish the program by putting it on an “all-time “ list.

The1983 victory at Penn St was really big. I don’t remember the score but it was a close game. Happy valley was not very happy that day. If my memory is correct Penn St was coming off a championship season. Papa Joe was not happy.

It's a big win in the sense that we've been desperate for something to go our way.

I see the UCLA win as important due to where we currently are as a program. We are recovering from the Pendejo Tommy disaster, while stuck in the G5 where we have to collect as many P5 scalps as possible. Given that situation, I am beyond thrilled that we opened our season by beating a storied program in a legendary venue, on the ESPN flagship nonetheless.

Exactly. It doesn't go on any all time lists but was a very important program building win. Fickel has done a great job recruiting and getting people to buy into the vision. But you need tangible results to build on. Even if UCLA only wins 2-3 games it's a road win in an iconic venue vs a P5 team. Now you've got something tangible to build on.

RE: FB Best Wins All time
UCLA and Miami Fl are two of the biggest brands in college sports so wins over them will always make an all time list.
1. 2009 Pitt
2. 2008 Pitt
3. 2008 WVU
4. 2009 WVU
5. 2006 Rutgers
Things get tricky after that because they were wins over ranked teams like Penn State in 1983 and Wisconsin in 1999 where UC still had a bad season or wins over brand names having a down year Virginia Tech, Miami Fl, and UCLA.
You could also put a number of Victory Bell and Keg of Nails games on there too. 2002 Louisville is one that stands out because it stop a long losing streak to Louisville.
The 1997 bowl win over Utah State was huge at that time because it ended a long bowl drought.

RE: FB Best Wins All time
Great win in that it was at the Rose Bowl against UCLA and UC went 4-8 last year. Otherwise, that was not a good UCLA team we played. I would rank it with Tubby's win against Miami U. That game was the opening game of the reconfigured Nippert. This game was an away game in Pasadena. UCLA and Miami U are brand name football programs with not much recent history. I'd say they were comparable, and really nice wins, but we didn't beat a top 25 team. Wins over Penn St, Rutgers, Pitt, Louisville, Oregon St and Vag Tech were better wins. This one was very satisfying and hopefully points at the resilience and never quit attitude of this team. I also liked the defense and special teams. I'm hoping the offense can grow from here. Let's see how they get themselves up for U of M.

I think the opener of the reconfigured Nipp was against Alabama A&M.

If my memory serves, the score was 16-0 and it was Watson Brown's first game as Bearcat coach.

RE: FB Best Wins All time
I love you guys LOL. Any win on the road is a good win. Add to the fact that we were 14.5 dogs, it doesn't matter if UCLA was ranked or not. The spread shows what the PERCEPTION was between the two programs. I know UCLA was not as good last year but please remember the conference they play in. Can you imagine what our record would've been the last two years playing in the P12 as opposed to the American? I think they are a better team talent-wise than the Purdue team we beat twice under Dr. Death. That said, we played a UCLA team that was not full strength due to suspensions and injuries. We'll never know how we'd fare on the flip but I don't want to discount our win on the road either. I think last night was a good barometer of where we are compared to a program like UCLA. We answered the bell. It gives us confidence and something to build on. I see this as a program defining win, but not worthy of an all time win. Does it matter? Hell no because we've been basement dwellers for two straight years so winning feels good again. Real good! Let's continue to enjoy it for at least another day LOL.

It was cold. I told my wife if we can just get it down to 14 point lead it will be game on. Marty did it with his kickoff TD. The Pitt people around us had been verbally abusive until Binns TD catch and suddenly they were no where to be seen.
A great drive home and then that SOB Kelly started his lies.

RE: FB Best Wins All time
I think this is just a perception game. UCLA is P5 and has won National Championships, has had Heisman winners, has a big name coach, plays in the Rose Bowl, etc.
UC was a 14-17 point dog, is a G5.
The game was ESPN national. Show it to recruits.
Perception is reality!
