The only real way to make the bowl system strong again is having a 16 team team playoff. Eight bowls in round one, four bowls in round two, two bowls in round three, and the champion ship round. So you now have 15 bowl games that mean something. In fact, if you use 32 teams, then you have 31 bowl games and they all have value! This would save the bowl system and increase revenue for the schools.

Your system fails to address several major issues. Teams will go to bowls, even if it means losing money, because:

1. They get extra practices. You would need to allow all teams to have the extra practices.

2. They get to hang a pretty sign in their stadium that makes the program look better than it might be.

3. Coaches can pad their resume by saying, "went to a bowl game 8 years in a row."

4. Coaches are offered incentives for making bowl games.

Not to mention that cities think bowl games enhance tourism and therefor boost the economy.
