Agreed. I'll always admire him stepping into the QB role midway through '16. Tough as nails but has no chance in the NFL.

From the Rams web site...

During special teams drills, coordinator John Fassel had the players go through an annual tradition. There is a tackling dummy at the goal line, and players line up one-on-one 15 yards away. One player is trying to reach the dummy, the other is trying to stop his opponent. It’s a drill that tests the ability to be effective both as a blocker and as a tackler in potential punt and kickoff situations.

Safety Nate Holley was one player who stood out, blocking running back Justin Davis into the ground on one play. He also got around a block pretty well on another rep, flashing throughout the drill.

I don't think I would bet against these two...

It's fair to say those kids are going to give everything they have. It's just a different level of athlete that can make it in the NFL today. I won't bet against them, but I would be very surprised if they make it.

RE: Nick Holley Signed with the Rams
Just keeping track of the Holley brothers. From the LA Rams team site.

Late in practice, running back Nick Holley caught a nice wheel route down the right sideline. An undrafted free agent out of Kent State, Holley has seemed to make the most out of his opportunities when he’s been able to get on the field. He’ll likely see playing time against Oakland as well.

Quarterback Luis Perez threw that pass to Holley and lit up the final period of practice with a string of nice throws. He connected with Brown down the seam, then with wideout Kendal Thompson on a short play to the left. McVay moved the drill up to the red zone and Perez excelled there, too, delivering a solid throw to Thompson in the back-left corner of the end zone. Thompson dragged his toes to secure the catch.

Both Holley brothers played against Oakland. Nick looked totally overwhelmed. Nate played well, may have a shot at sticking with the team.

Wasn't much running room. I think Nick would be better at slot back or receiver

Nate made PFF Preseason Week 2 Team of the week

Nice video interview. You have to believe that McVay, being from Miami, is rooting for them. #goflashes

There is only one round of cuts this year. Unless your injured your on the roster until they make the one cut at the end of the pre season.

That is not true. They are cutting and signing all the time. They just have to be down to 53 at one time.

Right, NFL teams cut players and sign players all season long. When teams get down to 53, teams will see players available they like more than some they have, so they'll sign and cut and the cycle is never ending. Making the cut to 53 in no way guarantees a marginal player that he'll last the season, or even the next week.

Correct it is in part about being in the right place/team/position at the right time one only need look at the career of James Harrison - he had to play in the European league before catching on with the Steelers. My wild guess is that Nate H may have a better chance than Nick but who knows!

Your right but without the intermediate steps there is no pressure to cut. I think a lot of players are still around because most coaches don’t want to play the regulars. Even the so called third game dress rehearsal had a lot of no shows this year. There’s no need to cut a player early so it’s a lot harder to read how the borderline guys are doing.

RE: Nick Holley Signed with the Rams
I would think both of them, particularly Nick because of his versatility would have a good shot at the practice squad if they do get cut. There isn't much job security in that role but it pays really well. A minimum of $7,600 per week this year. Odd that the NFL probably has the weakest players union but practice squad players are paid way better than minor league baseball players or g league players.
