Quite possible. I'm very interested to see Kithcart and what flexibility he might give us with Caver and the others.

I'm actually a bit more pessimistic than normal I think right now but figured 18 would be a good number to toss to the wolves and see what debate turns around it.

We should be significantly better in the backcourt and the wings. It's a matter of if Robinson can give us anything. (and if any of the freshman can contribute) Ezikpe at least has the body to play from day 1.

I don't see us being "significantly better in the backcourt and the wings". Haynes was really good for a large part of last year, and if we are going to see BJ playing significant minutes at the 4, as some have mentioned, I just don't see how this year's backcourt/ wings are significantly better. I think it may be as good, but that depends on the progress we see from Godwin and X. If they are not significantly better than they were last year, I think we see a slight step back.

The only loss is Haynes. Stith, Caver, Green, and Godwin should all be improved over last year (especially Green/Godwin). Then the addition of a real backup point guard in Kithcart helps.

The combo of Green and Godwin should makeup for the loss of Haynes. While, it will be a downgrade on defense, they will likely shoot and rebound better and get the line more often.

I'd put the O/U at 23 wins in the regular season.

I see Haynes and Porter remain criminally underrated.

Quick speedy ball handler that gets to the rim. Very limited threat from the outside. He will add much needed depth at the PG position which is needed by don't count on him as a shooter. I don't see him playing the 2.

I was told the other day that Kithcart maybe the best player on the floor. Also the LSU transfer is big but little offense ability likely a good rebounder.

RE: MBB 2018-2019 prediction
O/U at 21 wins (see below). I appreciate the difficult schedule - about time. I’m also expecting Kithcart’s ability to get to the rim (and relieve Caver) to open up a lot of shots for Godwin. I’m expecting Godwin to have a huge year. If not, we’re in for a long season. His importance to us this year is comparable to what Haynes was for us last year.

Navy - W, St Joes - L, OR state - W, Next - L, Final - W, N Iowa - L, VCU - WIN, JMU - W, B&M - W, FField - W, Cuse - L, Rich - L, Morgan - W, Marshall - W, WKY - W, FAU - W, FIU - W, La Tech - L, MSU - W, UNCC - W, UTEP - L, UTSA - L, NTX - W, Rice - W, UAB - L, Middle - W, UNCC - W, Pod Win 3 Lose 2

Always said LSU transfer big was a stiff offensively. Kithcart is quick and an excellent ball handler that can take defenders off the dribble. His knock is his outside shooting. Maybe over the last year that has improved. He has outstanding athleticism.

If we are counting on Godwin to be our outside threat we might be in trouble. He is a year away. To me it is all on BJ.

I’m counting on the starters to do their thing and keep the games tight against tough competition. But the bench will be the difference whether we win or lose against good teams. Godwin’s perimeter shooting is going to be key.

In order for this to be the case, Kithcart needs to be significantly better than Haynes. Is it your sense that this is the case? Hearing many conflicting reports on Kithcart. Either that or Caver or BJ needs to have made the jump from very good to exceptional, assuming reports verify that Green will continue to come off the bench.

Porter likely. Haynes was not. Best wing defender but mediocre offensively.

Inconsistent offensively sure, but his big offensive production nights got us quite a few wins last year. Will Green or Godwin have those nights where they go off for 15+ when nobody else is doing anything, resulting in a W? TBD. Also, when Haynes wasn't hitting shots, he did move well without the ball and had a good chemistry with BJ and Caver in the offense.

Haynes was also the guy who shut down the opposing team's biggest offensive threat. Who will that be this year? Green, BJ, or Godwin? I assume Godwin isn't ready for that, but I haven't seen practice.

RE: MBB 2018-2019 prediction
There are a number of very likely scenarios that allow us to easily make up for Haynes:
1) Godwin notably improves over his Freshman year. - Very likely
2) Green notably improves over his Freshman year - Very likely
3) Kithcart is a serviceable backup PG--allowing us the flexibility to move Caver to SG. - Very likely
4) BJ notably improves over his Junior year. - Moderate chance
5) Caver notably improves over his Junior year. - Moderate chance

If any two of these are true, we likely make up for Haynes's loss. If three of these are true, we improve over last year's backcourt. If four of these are true, we have an exceptional backcourt.

Kithcart and Caver are going to be pests. Those two guys get a ton of steals. As far as off-ball defending, I am not sure anyone will be able to replace Randy.

I agree. Some are so dismissive, especially of Haynes.

This is amazing. But I get it, for you, Randy Haynes was going to remain in the mediocre category no matter what he did. So the next question is who on the team was not mediocre offensively? Do you have one?

Mediocre? Just wow. And lol.
