It shows him as a 37% for Ohio State, does this mean the powers that be on 24/7 don't think he is a take for them, and will likely choose UC. I don't really understand how that works.

That's a percentage of people who have picked him to go to OSU and UC. So he has 3 total people predicting where he will pick for college, 2 people predict UC, 1 predicts OSU.

Per 247, he doesn't have an OSU offer yet.

Just to be clear that doesn't matter. The Crystal Ball tool on 247 is just a prognostication by recruiting analysts on the site. There are some analysts that don't put in a pick until they know for certain, and then there are others who game it up by putting in Crystal Ball's to a school they follow (there are a couple that follow UK that are notorious for this).

Frankly, I don't put a lot of stock into the Crystal Ball's themselves on face value, but I do value the opinions of certain analysts-- especially when they post about their rationale for making their pick.

So, just to understand, is Bill Greene one of these analysts you trust? How about Demetric Warren from varsitypreps (also a UC CB) and Andrew Ellis from 11 Warriors (the OSU CB)? My brother is an OSU alum and huge, but reasonable, buckeye fan and he loves 11 Warriors.

I'm guessing the "37%" was a typo because it's now 67% which jives with the T shirt's reply. Thomas looks like he'd be an outstanding get for us and is a very solid possibility unless something falls through with OSU current plans and they offer.

I tend to put more stock into the picks by guys who cover regions as opposed to particular team staff members. Staff guys tend to be more biased. However, there are exceptions to the rule on both sides. I like Bill- if you are a member of BCJ you would understand why.

As I posted above, the Crystal Ball tool is nice, but I do not consider it gospel. Sometimes it’s dead on, other times it is wild speculation. What’s more, these kids change their minds several times.

It's also good to understand that at times the person making the Crystal Ball is doing so with only one side of the info. There are kids every cycle that want to commit to a school, but they aren't a take. If that person doesn't have the info from both sides, you will see picks that only tell part of the story...

Per the story, UC was the favorite and pushing hard to land a 3* Michigan DE until he just got his dream offer from UM.

Fickell and company have amazed me so far on the recruiting trail. I'm impressed that they go head to head for higher echelon talent and even win a few. I'm sure their dilemma remains: invest time and resources in chasing guys at this level or settle for less talented/developmental prospects willing to commit early. Seems they've demonstrated a decent balancing act so far.

I see this a little differently. I fully support going head to head with the big boys for select targets, but we aren't going to beat out UM for Michigan kids very often. Looking at his ranking and offers, I see him as more of an under-the-radar hidden gem type. I'm sure his ranking/rating will go up now, but I doubt many casual UM fans are jumping up and down about his commitment. Instead, I think that is why UC was pushing so hard for a commitment - to beat the big boys to the punch. Of course even a commitment doesn't guarantee a kid will stick with you if he "blows up" but I'd rather be starting from the top and trying to hold on than trying to climb to the top among the snakes.

This kid held off on committing to us, hoping for an offer from his nearby dream school and he was fortunate enough to get it. I can live with that and I'd much rather have that than for him to commit and later renege to us. For his sake, hopefully it pays off for him. There's more fish in the sea for us.

Now this one is more of going head to head for high echelon talent that OKIcat spoke of:

Nice game for Cameron Jones:

Cam Jones, Frederick Douglass (senior): Cincinnati commit was 21 of 27 for 421 yards and 3 TDs without an interception in the Broncos’ 42-7 win at Madison Central. He completed passes to six different receivers.

Nice game indeed.

I'm not sure if it's been noted, or not, here but Mr. Jones isn't coming here to play QB. His future lies elsewhere on the field.

That said, I do wonder if he has a change of heart as her continues to play well as a QB.

I would say it depends on what other QB candidates we get as a recruit. When you look at our Prospects on 247sports, there is only 1 QB prospect - Kinkead Dent. And we are the only school that is listed as "Warm".

Considering we have a RS Freshman starter, a Freshman who is #3 on the DC and a Freshman who has a shot at playing QB redshirting this year, I don't know if it would smart to put him there unless he sets the world on fire. Huge QBs scare me...much bigger targets.

Agreed.

I know conventional wisdom is you take at least 1 QB every class. However, this season we don't seem to be in on anyone really. We can take a pass. Considering our depth situation....it's going to be hard to get a quality recruit to commit to us at the moment anyway.

Cameron also is just now playing a higher quality opponent this season after transferring schools.. Seems like a reach for us to look at him as a QB recruit. The kid is an athlete. He can contribute in a lotta ways, and do so much sooner elsewhere.

Yep...to me he looks a lot like Zach Gentry, who was a huge QB (roughly the same measurables) who played in lower level competition in Arizona for much of his career. Committed to Michigan with QB on his list of positions, but immediately moved to TE and is now making an impact there due to his size, athleticism, and understanding of the passing game and coverages from his time as a QB.

New offer for a local:

Quote: On Wednesday Colerain linebacker/running back Ivan Pace Jr. received an offer from Cincinnati. On Friday night he went out and showed why the Bearcats were interested. Against Hamilton, Pace ran for 136 yards and two TDs. He also caught a 21-yard pass. On defense he recorded six tackles (three solo) and had a forced fumble as Colerain stretched its Greater Miami Conference win-streak into its 10th year.
