Thank You, B1G!
You’re welcome to Maryland. Glad we don’t have this embarrassment in the ACC any more. And they’ve got the Ohio State debacle as well. Good luck! God knows the scandals at UNC and Louisville are an embarrassment but no one is dead and no one has been abused.

Not a good look. You'd think Len Bias would still hang over that athletic department.

Len Bias' death is part of the current problem at MD. It's the wound that never heals because it resulted in running Lefty and Bobby Ross off and the hiring of the two of the worst coaches in MD history. They almost turned the corner by the mid 2000's but when the Fridge refused to honor his deal to step down so that Franklin could take over, that blew up and MD lost Franklin to Vandy and Yow to NC State. Their replacements have not been up to snuff.

Kirwan was at MD when the athletic programs were nearly destroyed in the late 80's and then he used MD's athletic program and the money starvation to help sell his dream of moving MD to the B10. Now in the Big 10 MD has to compete in football against schools with football stadiums and alumni bases that are 80% to 100% bigger than MD and remember, most of the key graduate programs were taken from MD and placed in Baltimore in 1970 so they don't have a Medical School and other type professional programs with which to mint wealthy donors as does Michigan or Ohio State.

Bias's death and the response to it really are the wound that never heals.

RE: Thank You, B1G!
Avoiding Franklin was probably the best thing Maryland has done as an athletic department in the past 25 years. He's as dirty as they come.

Probably the second best was letting Yow go to NC State because we all see the wonders she has done in Rawlee.

RE: Thank You, B1G!
I just realized Maryland's Athletic Director is Damon Evans. As in the same Damon Evans that got arrested as AD of U[sic]GA. What for? "Evans was arrested for DUI on June 30, 2010. Evans tried to bribe his way out of the arrest and had a pair of red panties between his legs when he was pulled over. The passenger in the car, 28-year-old Courtney Fuhrmann of Atlanta, was arrested for disorderly conduct. Evans was asked for his resignation and agreed to resign."

This is his mugshot:

WELL DONE MARYLAND INDEED. JFC. Now I'm glad they're gone as well. What the hell did you think you'd get hiring Damon Evans? You never eat from the UGA dumpster. You'll only catch disease. Louisville has learned this the hard way and now UMD will learn it even harder since they put UGA dumpster refuse IN CHARGE OF THEIR ENTIRE ATHLETIC PROGRAM. Again .... JFC.

You didn't even hit on some of the best parts regarding him and Maryland. He was the INTERIM AD when McNair died and got the job full time later on. This should and probably will bring down DJ Durkin, Damon Evans and hopefully Wallace Loh. They all need to be gone.

What is it that "Louisville has learned the hard way"? That eating from the UGA dumpster is bad? Why don't you leave your sorry limp comparisons at home today.

Louisville paid UGAg $1,000,000 to buy the defensive coordinator they were about to fire. UGAg then loaded up with Jeremy Pruitt, FSU's NC winning DC. Pruitt went to Alabama and is now HC at TN. As for the guy you paid a million for before you even paid his salary ... you ended up firing him.

Further questions?

And how was that related to Maryland? What was the analogy? Or metaphor?

You were hiring from the discard bin at U[sic]GA in both cases. Damon Evans for UMD. Todd Grantham for UofL.

Well, thanks, at least I understand your analogy now.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Depends. If we're still doing this Thelma and Louise deal with TV markets at all costs ... then yes. DC and Baltimore are too valuable.

In a more sane and idealistic world where conferences are organized by peers and geography instead of TV sets .... then no.

And in the full on corporate dystopia where Disney owns ... literally owns ... the conferences its televises ... again no. I'd rather merge in with the SEC and Big 12 and go back to playing geographically close peers underneath the unholy empire of Fuhrer Mickey. If we're going to sell our souls we should at least get something worthwhile for it beyond bags of cash.
