I think the thinnest Tiger I recall was Tommy Lowery...

The thickest part of Keith lees freshman legs were his knees.

I would often cringe when he'd make some moves or mix it up. Those legs looked like they could snap at any moment.

He thickened up a lot, but I don’t think it was a “healthy thick”.

Lee was 6-10 and 188 lbs during his freshman season. His senior year weight of 220 was just plain bad weight.

If we could replace senior Lee with sophomore Lee in 85, I think we win the title that year. Unfortunately Lee was a liability for much of the tournament. Had a good game against Oklahoma but the rest was just constant foul trouble and being a step slow

Bad weight, yeah. Too heavy.
But, that was a coaching staff decision.

I got several games of Keith on tape. Met him when he was having a house built where I was building one for a Jackson State friend of mine who was there and blocked for Walter Payton. Used to play pick up basketball games with me. He could hold me in place fir a second with his right hand. Strong as an ox.

Back to Keith. When he was a freshman and we had a fast break (didn’t run Dana’s half court offense) Keith was as good all round as any player in the nation including Ewing who was also a freshman. He could run the floor like a gazelle, pass like Penny and could knock down today’s 3 pointers. Had the best hands I’ve ever seen in the post and could dunk it or do his patented turnaround with a slight fadeaway jumper.

Even after we talked a lot he wouldn’t talk basketball unless you forced him. Painfully shy at first. And Dana did some bad things but Keith’s wife to be had a very good paying job at FedEx. Just a memory of a great Tiger and the late Walter Payton.

The staff wanted him to beef up so he ate a lot of calories.

Genetics. He just wasn't meant to carry a bunch of weight. Even at his height.

Agreed. He is like a bigger version of Tayshaun Prince. God intended him to be thin. Some of the players told me about the staff putting extra calories on him. A couple played on our softball team.

Stop right there. I have a Bass Boat.

You are unfit to add one additional hour.

Without my permission.

Agree...

But if Lee was around right now he would be 220 by the time he was 21 and probably not lose any of his agility...

He probably ate on those 30 lbs instead of doing it the right way.

He was listed at 6'11" 188
Chad Allen was listed at 6'10" and 192.

EP wasn't a big man but had stick legs.

To put in in perspective, Earl Barron was 7'0" 245lbs. Had over 50lbs on em!
