Houston top 100
Rice has 1 at #91 (WR Knipe)
Non P5 schools that have recruits ranked above that:
Tulane
ULL
UNT
Yale
SMU
UTEP
Army
UH
Schools that aren’t great that also have players
Cal
Northwestern
Iowa state
Kansas state
Of course UT and A&M have a bunch

Yeah, honestly our recruiting has been best in DFW this year... I think it speaks to preexisting relationships that held over from the prior staff with it being Vestal’s territory.
We definitely are recruiting less in Central TX IMO which was Bailiff’s bread and butter.

There is still a lot of undecided in the list.

North Carolina CB Gabe Jeudy has committed to Rice.
His top 5 included Air Force, Army, James Madison, Rice and Richmond. Also had offers from Butler, Charlotte, Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Marshall, Navy, Penn, Princeton, Villanova, Yale and others.
Cool video of him giving "thank you's" and his decision.

I will happily take any kid who had offers from Army, Harvard, Princeton, and Yale.

Navy, and Air Force too. No reason we shouldn’t beat the academies for recruits.

The Roost article says he is our tenth commitment for this year. Does anyone have any idea how many spots we expect to have open in this class?

RE: [split] Mike Bloomgren's 2nd Rice recruiting class
My guess is the current roster will be vastly different by December or February. I would suspect that some current players on scholarship will (a) graduate early, (b) move to some sort of non-scholarship status (medical hardship/being moved to a student manager or trainer position), or © just end up transferring following the season. I don't know the current number of seniors but I would guess we'll have a minimum of 20-25 open scholarships at the end of the season.

Totally agree. I had to show it to my daughter who I thought for sure would know the two songs. She knew the second song (Coming Home by Diddy and some others). She didn't know the first song (Solo), but she is now trying to add it to her playlist.

Marshall is also a recruiting machine. They know how to land the talent. He seems like a great young man. Welcome to Rice!

Marshall takes kids that can’t qualify for the NCAA and probably have no chance in college if forced to take real classes. Something like 8 of their top 10 players from the last recruiting class won’t be playing this year.

That's true, but he still must have some real talent if Marshall wants him. They've won their last five bowl games.

I can remember when Rice had things like happen. Of course, one big difference is that Rice didn't win with that approach. Probably the worst era ever for Rice athletics. Convinced me that lowering recruiting standards is not the way for Rice to go.
