Small correction (I believe): if we win the east, we will be unable to host the championship game unless we are willing to delay the construction schedule.
Oh shucks, you're right. I don't see us delaying demolition. If this were to happen, do you think we might use NSU, or do you think our only real choice would be to travel. If we are faced with this decision, I would hope they would find a way to play the game somewhere here or close -- say Richmond?
Oh jeez I doubt we'd have it all the way out in Richmond. If we were to host the conference championship (which, I think we can all agree is a big IF), I bet the furthest out we go would be the Virginia Beach Fieldhouse.
If it came down to it, which would you rather do? Go to Richmond, or go to Texas?
Go to Norfolk, STATE! That said, the odds of it coming down to that are pretty small.

Oh it'd be Richmond all day every day! But I think that there are enough stadiums capable of handling the conference championship that are a lot closer to us that that wouldn't be necessary.

Correct. Richmond would not even enter the discussion as an option.

Anyone heard anything about TV coverage for the game? And, by the way, I'm predicting at least three sacks for Ximines and five or six total.

Been looking everywhere to find any news on TV coverage, and the closest I've come across is the Liberty Flames Sports Network. It sounds like the school has its own TV deal with local affiliates across the country and networks like MASN and ESPN3. I checked their 2017 home broadcasts, and most of their games appeared on ESPN3. I'm hoping for MASN or ESPN3.

RE: ODU Football Opponent Preview: Liberty
Why does ODU insist on playing an exhibition game at the start of every season? It’s like not really starting the season until the following week. I know we got paid a pretty penny, but the fact remains that we don't really start the season until week 2. It puts us behind our CUSA mates who begin the season with a P5. Do you think an exhibition game is going to prepare us for FIU? How about we start the season with a P5 for a change? How about a trip to Tuscaloosa. Once the team gets a taste of that, nothing on the remaining schedule will strike fear in the Monarchs.
Let's do a home and home shall we?

Not trying to derail the thread with a response but we got crushed by UNC last year in what was one of their worst seasons as of late, we never crossed the 50 yard line at tech and you want to play Bama. Then you say lets do a home and home so I am assuming your whole post is a joke considering the fact the bama rarely plays a p5 as a true road game let alone a G5.

RE: ODU Football Opponent Preview: Liberty
I don't see any issue with an FBS tune up game at the start of the season. There are several advantages to playing Liberty at the start of the season:
1. Low level opponent to get our players gameday ready. Might be able to go deep into the depth chart. Liberty isn't exactly a cupcake, but if we were to play Alabama at the start the only thing we'd learn about our team is which players are better at not getting hurt.
2. Counts as an FBS win. Not an exhibition or FCS.
3. We are getting paid $1.3 million
4. We play VT at home 3 weeks later... why do we need to play a huge game at the start?

We don't. Our OOC scheduling is about as good as you're going to find at the G5 level. And that's with our small stadium.

I believe that Sirloin Burger was engaging in some Liberty Smack.
Yeah, let's get this exhibition game behind us.

At $1.3 million to play lesser competition 3 hours from Norfolk, I think we would be OK to start every season at Liberty.

Liberty is going to a lot more difficult than fans are giving them credit for. They have a very talented group of receivers and a QB with a fantastic arm. They remind me a lot of our team several years ago with Heinicke. They will move the ball against ODU and put up points. If our offense isn't ready to go, we will get beat.

RE: ODU Football Opponent Preview: Liberty
I don't know alot about them, but I would suspect that their OL is going to have a big time issue with our DL.
Only looking at last year, they were hit or miss. Only score 7 vs. St. Francis, 24 for Duquesne, 19 vs. Charleston Southern, 14 vs. SMU, 10 vs. JSU.
Im not worried about the talent they have...we have far more talented than they are. What, I'm worried about is withstanding the initial motivational pop they have for the first home game. If we come out prepared and motivated, it will be an easy game.
Remember us playing @ECU where they were way more talented, but the motivational drive kept us in it. We don't always seem to be "up" for FCS teams. (I know they are technically FBS indy right now)

If St effing Francis can beat them in Lynchburg so can we. We don't need to be humble all the ******* time esp when a fanbase of a damn school for nuns is taking shots at us. I would say we will take their money and take them to the woodshed.

It would be a good game to let Elijah Davis to get some snaps. Let him run all over his hometown.
