Exclamation Neutral Site Games
Something which is becoming synonymous with big-time football is neutral site games. This year there are 3 such games involving AAC teams:

From FBSchedules: http://www.fbschedules.com/college-footb...ite-games/

2018 Neutral Site Games
Louisville vs. Alabama Sept. 1, 2018 Orlando, FL
Washington vs. Auburn Sept. 1, 2018 Atlanta, GA
Colorado vs. Colorado State Sept. 1, 2018 Denver, CO
Texas vs. Maryland Sept. 1, 2018 Landover, MD
Ole Miss vs. Texas Tech Sept. 1, 2018 Houston, TX
West Virginia vs. Tennessee Sept. 1, 2018 Charlotte, NC
Miami (FL) vs. LSU Sept. 2, 2018 Arlington, TX
Cincinnati vs. Miami (OH) Sept. 8, 2018 Cincinnati, OH
Ohio State vs. TCU Sept. 15, 2018 Arlington, TX
USF vs. Illinois Sept. 15, 2018 Chicago, IL
Arkansas vs. Texas A&M Sept. 29, 2018 Arlington, TX
Texas vs. Oklahoma Oct. 6, 2018 Dallas, TX
Florida vs. Georgia Oct. 27, 2018 Jacksonville, FL
Navy vs. Notre Dame Oct. 27, 2018 San Diego, CA
Notre Dame vs. Syracuse Nov. 17, 2018 Bronx, NY
Baylor vs. Texas Tech Nov. 24, 2018 Arlington, TX
Army vs. Navy Dec. 8, 2018 Philadelphia, PA

However, there are NONE scheduled for 2019. Does anyone know if there are any in the works? These games tend to pay well AND give the teams great exposure - if you can get a good match-up, that is. P5 teams are much more willing to play a neutral site game than a true away game (sad, but true).

THOUGHTS?

We've got one at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte vs Appalachian State coming up in a few years.

Yeah...

Thanks for the thought, but our big time "neutral site" game is basically a concession to the Miami U. Redchickens because nobody wants to drive all the way out to the hobbit shire to go to games at their glorified HS field.

I'm 99% sure that this is technically their home game and their attendance numbers boost for the year will be from 30,000 UC fans at this game.

RE: Neutral Site Games
I'm actually really curious about what the attendance will be (for our game vs Appy). You don't really see many of these games without at least one school from the autonomy conferences. Cincinnati vs Miami (OH) would be another one.

Appalachian State travels really well, and we typically do too assuming the program isn't still down in the dumps. Anything south of 50K is going to look really sparse in a stadium that size.

Syracuse v. ND is not a neutral site game. It is a "Shamrock Series" game.

It is an ND home game moved from South Bend to Yankee Stadium.

NBC has the television rights and ND controls the ticket sales.

Technically, the Navy vs Notre Dame game is also a Navy home game. Navy just frequently (or always???) moves the home games vs Notre Dame to a NFL size stadium somewhere.

They frequently used the Baltimore Ravens Stadium but in recent years have moved the game to Landover MD, Jacksonville, FL and East Rutherford NJ, plus this year's game in San Diego.

is this the first time doing that? hobbit shire sounds appealing. i like visiting oxford. wife is an alum as are numerous friends. wife and i visit once a year, just before school lets in. we go to hueston woods and she shows me her old haunts and i her mine. yes, i like that campus very deeply. we ran into one her favorite professors a few years ago in this fashion. and she wasn't even embarrassed to be seen with me let alone say husband

is st alphonso's still a thing?

Navy always plays ND at "home" in an NFL stadium somewhere, as the ticket sales from the larger venues beats playing ND in Annapolis.

It's a "home" game being played at a neutral site. So really it's both. Same with BC @ UCONN (at Fenway) and UCONN @ UMass (at Gillette).

Navy plays Notre Dame at home every other year. This years home game is being played in San Diego St’s dump.

And it is "always." We've never played them in Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. We would have to triple ticket prices to get the gate that a Jacksonville or San Diego delivers - and that might make it an ND crowd in our own house, too.
Northeastern stadia are often more green than blue with subway fans; reports were Jax was 60-40 Navy and I'd expect that in SD.
The whole Brigade will attend Bmore, FedEx, Meadowlands games. I think about 1000 got to travel to Jax, and I don't know what they're doing for mids to SD

That is basically saying it IS a neutral site game if you think about it.

Meadowlands and to my recollection Baltimore are more ND crowds, in fact. Jax was a nice change. The expectation is SD will be more Navy. (I've shown in another thread in the past that Navy's Poinsettia Bowl crowd is better than SDSU; the Holiday Bowl and late PBowl organizers are the organizers for this year's game)

Doesn't look like that is the case. UC plays them in Oxford 4 times through 2029. Alternates home, away, neutral, home, away, neutral...

I have watched ECU play VT, South Carolina, WVU and NCST in Charlotte. It has always been a good time and I like the Bowl Game like atmosphere it provides. I have always thought we should go after Tennessee for a 1-1 deal with game @ TN and game at Bank of America Stadium just for the money based on the fact how much TN recruits Western NC and NC in general.

So you want to help Tennessee recruit your territory? A mid-west P5 team might be better. Like a TCU, Baylor or Arizona for example.
