RE: An Analysis of TV OTT Platforms
Updated pricing for Direct TV Now & PSVue. Both have raised their prices by $5 for all tiers.

Looks like we are getting into some price creep here.

I don't know if it has been mentioned here or not, but AT&T has a new "skinny" streaming bundle that rivals Philo at $15/mo. No sports channels, but a lot of quality cable channels are represented. If you have AT&T cellular service, depending on your plan you might have it for free.

Thanks for the info. I may switch to that instead of Philo. It has some channels that my family watches over Philo for the same price.

RE: An Analysis of TV OTT Platforms
I've update the OP to reflect the new info about AT&T Watch TV package.

Soon I have to wonder if Sony will offer something similar in addition to the PS Vue. Or if Sling will offer a package without sports channels also.

RE: An Analysis of TV OTT Platforms
I’ve had YouTubeTV for a year now and I’ve been happy with the service. I got grandfathered in on the $35 package which is now $40. They’ve been adding channels like CNN, TBS, TNT and MyTV. I hope they can add PBS, Bloomberg and NFL Network soon. There’s no CW, MTV, VH1, Univision and
Pac-12 but I can live without them.

DirecTV Now has added NFL Network as of this morning.

Update:
It is in their $55 package and higher. Also there is no redzone option at this time

Thanks! Post is updated with info.

I'm still getting CBSSN with my $40 tier. Not sure if there is a glitch as to why I'm getting it or if they move CBSSN to the lowest level. Guess, I'll have to wait to make sure it still on when football season comes on. It will help me watch some MW games.

That is a nice plus. You ever though of switching to YouTube TV? Same $40 price point but more sports channels.

I looked into it but my current package has the non-sports channels the rest of the family likes. I'm just waiting to see in the CBSSN was actually dropped to the lowest tier and not at the $65 tier anymore.

I hope it stays active for you. Did the NFL network turn on for you as well?

No it didn't, even though I got an email stating it was added to my lineup. So I guess it was a general email that the NFL network is added but on a higher tier.

Hulu Live TV review which is not the most flattering and does talk about how the costs start to stack up with the IPTVs.

Personally I don't see the value in paying for DVR service when almost everything is on demand anyways.

RE: An Analysis of TV OTT Platforms
I found an article dated 8/10/15 that details the price points require for each channel from the live internet TV services.

https://www.techhive.com/article/3211536...vices.html

They all seem to have their own faults.

-Direct TV now requires a $65 dollar tier for CBS Sports.
-FuboTV doesn't have ESPN.
-Hulu doesn't offer Starz, Sundance or IFC.
-Philo is cheap but is limited to the family pack.
-PS Vue required $50 dollar tier for ESPNU, CBS Sports.
-Sling doesn't have CBS Sports.
-AT&T Watch is cheap but doesn't offer anything.
-YouTube doesn't offer HBO or Cinemax.

Hulu no-commercials, live TV +HBO/Showtime is $69 dollars which I contend is the best deal because they are also throwing in their own independent movie house.

PS Vue will run you $80 for the same, albeit with more overall channels and no studio. DirectTV is $78 dollars.

Hulu also gives you the option to put your account on hold for 3 months if you aren't using it. You could also rotate with sports vs. shows depending on the season.

September-April: Hulu Live TV ($44)
April-September: Hulu/HBO/Showtime ($37)

3 studios is quite a bit of content to shift through IMO.

Some updated info added in the first post and changed the terminology of TV's to devices as I'm sure some also watch on tablets and phones. Should have had put devices in the first place given the era we are in but was thinking about seeing on TV's via Roku, Stick, Apple TV..etc.

So far, I have CBS SN in the lowest package with Direct TV Now. If anyone signs up as a new customer with them on the lowest tier, let me know if you get CBS SN.

Interesting article regarding the OTT TV services.
The big thing from the article is WatchTV from AT&T doesn't offer sports channels and is profitable, while their own Direct TV Now isn't due to sports channels.

That rollout promo I took advantage of has to be a big hindrance to profitability.
