So that's two ODU opponents in this guy's top 144.
This is the only game that matters to me each year. The hate is real.

Potential third-day Paradise Jam opponent Penn is 122, second in the Ivy.
Tee hee, Penn is.

So, another down year for VCU, or is the A10 that good? Ranked #9 in A10 this preseason. Richmond #11.

The A-10 is probably going to be a massive crapshoot. The two Saints and Davidson are solid top-three picks, though no surefire locks, but for 4-12 you might as well grab balls out of a bingo popper. VCU's fortunes rise and fall with Marcus Evans's Achilles. If he's back and close to 100 percent by the opener, they'll be better than they were last year. If he's out for a prolonged period, it could be another long season.

Evans tore his other achilles and had another surgery in June. 5-6 months from then is probably extremely optimistic.

People on their board said he's moving around without a boot, and they seem optimistic that he won't miss as much time as you'd imagine. I'm dubious—there's a big difference between walking around and playing Division 1 basketball—but I'm also not there, so maybe it's healing ahead of schedule?

They know better than I do, but every achilles rupture I've ever read about is pretty much a 12 month process. Hell, many athletes can never even return from it.
I know there is some talk on whether DeMarcus Cousins will be able to return at all this year. Kobe was never the same after his injury. Deangelo hall either. Dan Marino, will still doing ok, wasn't the same as pre-injury. I'm sure there are some success stories, but this can be a devastating injury.
Older article, but:
https://www.si.com/edge/2015/04/16/rothm...obe-bryant
Even in professional sports, 36% of NFL or NBA players sustaining an Achilles tendon rupture never return to pro sports, and those who do usually take about a year before they are playing competitively. Additionally, players who do return typically have a decrease in their power of about 50% and only play for an average of 3-4 more seasons. These injuries also seem to be on the rise, with more than 16 NFL players rupturing their Achilles tendons in the 2014 season.

RE: 2018-2019 MBB Schedule
VCU is #128 in the college sports top 144 reviews. So Glad we didn’t even look to hire Rhodes.
Evans with now 2 bad wheels is projected back December / January at best. Even if he gets a medical waver to get this year back he will never be the player he was that averaged 20 at Rice. Evans never was much of a defender just a scorer - he will lose a step and get eaten alive by quicker guards on defense, and he won’t have that step-back and first step moves for scoring.

Especially after rupturing the other one.
It’s a long shot that he’s back at all this year.
If their season sucks and they have no at large chance, they may not burn his season.
I do not foresee them being a “quality win” this coming season which unfortunately makes our schedule that much weaker.
Ugh.

Didn’t seem to hurt trey freeman. But yes I doubt Evans will ever be the same after the injury.
Just for those of you holding your breath, there’s a chance we don’t even make this list lol.
By the way, Dominique Wilkins came back strong from a torn Achilles but I wouldn’t count on much from Evans if I were a Vcu fan.

So that's two ODU opponents in this guy's top 144.
I would imagine Marshall, Western Kentucky and ODU are the 3 left from CUSA still to be listed in the Madness Poll. . In what order at this time, it is really a coin flip. Especially if Dajour Dickens is given a waiver to play and he develops really fast this year.
The Madness's poll probably did not even factor his transfer into their rankings. UTSA is listed as #4 in the league and I don't believe ODU would be ranked below them. The other school that may be in the mix is Middle Tennessee. They may in fact be one of the 3, but after the coaching change, and player transfers (Link) https://bustingbrackets.com/2018/06/20/m...offseason/ ….. I don't see that either.

Marshall and western Kentucky are locks.
So either us or mtsu will not even make the list........not that it really matters.
Mtsu would have to fall a LONG way though.
