I'd honestly be surprised if we add any more players for the 2018 class. Wonderful to have Minnie back, we need to make a solid run for a MAC championship this year and a return to the NCAAs.

EMU has the talent to have a winning team, but do they have what it takes to have a championship team? They still need to play better.

Nobles, Bond, Harris have been deleted from the roster, I expect a press release on the three newcomers any day now.

Especially with a team as talented as Buffalo standing in their way. The rest of the conference will be improved as well, with only WMU and CMU losing considerable production. Look out for Ohio, Bowling Green, and Miami to be much improved, and for Toledo to be as dangerous as they were this past season.

Should be a fun season. Can't wait to see how our OOC schedule looks.

Noel-Price to Pacific. https://twitter.com/onejahbzzz/status/10...4807175168

I liked him and wanted to see him at EMU but I'm not sure we had an available scholarship.

RE: 2018/9 EMU Men's Basketball Recruiting
I think we are set for next year roster wise, so we have Silver, the redshirt, Stephens the true frosh Parris the Juco and Toure the transfer, a little bit of everything. All of last year's youngsters will have to take it up a notch.

RE: 2018/9 EMU Men's Basketball Recruiting
A bit disappointed in the 2018 class after the 2017 class with late signees included. We have an injury prone transfer, Parris at least had multiple offers and Stephens did not have many offers (I think one article says two offers one from a Div II program). Honestly thought we would do better after making the top 4 teams going into the MAC tourney last year. As I see it we now have 4 scholies for the 2019 class.

I still maintain there is a time lag effect to recruiting. Win in 2017/8 and reap the recruiting rewards the FOLLOWING season.

Most recruiting decisions (Parris and Toure) were made before EMU went on its Feb/March run.

As we have learned from Murphy, recruiting for the following season extends into June. A few years ago I was on campus and learned something about another unnamed recruit. Turned out to be JT4.

This class will surprise.

Toure apparently was a hidden gem.

Parris has D-I/JUCO experience.

And Rafus is the big get.

I was never sure if Stephens is a scholarship player, preferred walk-on, etc. Murphy has liberally used walk-ons but they are essentially practice players who would not have gotten a D-I scholarship.

Stephens is in a different situation. He was a possible/probably D-I recruit but at what level?

FB makes liberal usage of preferred walk-ons so maybe that is an option here. PWOs can sign LOI.

If not on scholarship he could be promised one if one opens up. This also happens a lot in FB. A PWO makes the 2-deeps and a schollie opens up and he gets it. Jaron Johnson was a case in point last summer.

As we know from football, there are a LOT of options.

RE: 2018/9 EMU Men's Basketball Recruiting
BTW, this class is not "Pure Michigan" but "Pure Murphy."

Murphy is the master at bringing in D-I transfers and 'bounceback' recruits who went D-I and then to JUCO and the re-recruit. That would be Parris and Toure.

Murphy now has what he didn't really have before: Someone with real recruiting roots in New England and Mid-Atlantic. That would be Wooten. He has all the contacts in the east. Rafus was a big, big surprise, but on the other hand, since he played in Balto and N.J., Wooten would have known about him.

Want to bet a beer at the MAC championship?

I'm in full 'Sunshine Steve' mode (and it is in the mid-80s already in D.C.). MAC Championship. NCAA tourney... I got plans for March.

Miami just lost their PG, Ringo, to transfer. That hurts them.

This is the time of year where I wish we had an extra scholarship or two to give. Some nice transfers out there from Detroit area like Jermaine Jackson Jr., Greg Eboigbodin, etc.

The question with Rafus is not whether there is issue, the question is what is the issue. If its academics how does he become eligible by the time the season starts? If there were no issues I would imagine he would have signed with another school. Something scared those programs off.

I assume most here are familiar with this website which includes transfers.

Click on the column 'New School' and one will get a list of those who are not known to have committed to a new school.

Number of good players still on the list. Of course, we don't have any extra scholarships.

P.S. don't see a new school for Terry Harris.

Curious where Ringo will end up?

Transfers as there can be a close relationship between MAC and Horizon players. They can't transfer INTRA-conference but it is easy for say a Nobles to go HL and would be easy for a HL player to go MAC. Same level of competition, same geography, etc. Corey Allen screwed up the 'scenario' by following his fmr. coach to Ga. State instead of EMU.

E.g., Jackson and dad could go MAC. Ringo could go HL.

Should be interesting to see what happens but if I were a MAC HC with an open asst coaching slot, I'd go after father and son Jackson.
