Wasn't he the one who had an ambulance race onto the field with an empty casket so the players could "bury" their mistakes? Wasn't he the one that had about 50 priests on our side of the field for a game against Notre Dame?

BTW, I was glad to see rain for the '94 UT game.

RE: CFN prediction
Ray's 1980 team was a very good team with a 5-6 record that included wins against LSU (at home) and TCU, A&M, Arkansas and UH (on the road).

That team had some injuries early in the year that led to losses at Clemson and Tulane (I know, that's no excuse), but that team could have had an outstanding season.

I'm not sure we have had a team recently that could defeat those schools.

Well but at least Alborn and Brandt, though some awful teams, were playing against real teams, not the Northeast Vermont Technical College for Blind Orphans.

And yes, it is refreshing to have a strategy as opposed to having to guess.

Power I formation left, right, and middle for 4 yards at a time might not be flashy, but compared to 27 shifts and a delay of game penalty inside our own 5 yd line, I will take it. Last season's offense was MADDENING before they even snapped the ball!

Oh come on, what is wrong with getting a delay of game at the beginning of a half or after calling a timeout (or if I remember both happened in the same sequence sometime in the last 2-3 years)???

If this, or anything like this, happens multiple times, repeatedly, as it did under the prior coaching staff, I will be at the forefront demanding change.

I believe you. Just one question - how many is multiple? Two a season"

Two a game?

I hesitate to put an exact number on it, because it's really more like what Potter Stewart said about pornography, "I know it when I see it." How many false starts equal one busted secondary coverage, how may delays of game equal one major kicking game error? I don't know, but if it gets to the point that we expect something like that every week, then it has gone too far.

I'm afraid that we might have enough data over the years to derive those equivalences...

I would say if happenings like that impact the outcome in more than two games, that is multiple. JMO. Two or less, we can let slide.

If we have stuff like that happen but win anyway, fine.

Stuff happens.

This is exactly why Rice is where it is today. Failure to address the underlying issues.

Bill Belichick, Nick Saban and other successful coaches do not have this attitude. Rice may have beaten PVaTm in 2016. But the fact that they scored 44 points was a huge cause of alarm. Well, it should have been. Win or lose, Belichick would have ripped the team a new one for a showing that sloppy.

End result, one team continues to improve and "stuff" stops happening. This means against better teams, they don't lose due to "stuff". The other team (Rice), well, continues with its unprecedented run of "stuff".
