They have this to say:

"Guessing The Preseason Regular Season Win Total Will Be Set At ..."

Points for an unprecedented use of the word "preseason".

Oh, some other good stuff.

Pretty good write-up. Probably pretty accurate, too.

Nice discussion. Their prediction sounds about right but could improve depending on the injury bug.

CFN prediction
One thing I respect about this site is that they link to the previous season's prediction right at the top of the page.

"2017 Worst Case Scenario: Nothing works... a two-win season"

So.... Maybe not WORST case.

RE: CFN prediction
One misleading statement - that Rice has not beaten Houston since 2010 - would leave the casual reader under the [false] impression that the Owls have lost 7 in a row to UH, when, in actuality, they've played just 4 times.

I'm not sure I can say which one of the "fun stats" is worse:

-1st Quarter Scoring: Opponents 142 – Rice 17
– Field Goals: Opponents 15-of-18 – Rice 3-of-5
– Turnovers: Rice 29 – Opponents 6

Those pretty much tell it all.

The turnover margin has a lot to do with the other two margins.

Against Army (within 3 minutes in the first quarter), we managed 4 turnovers and 28 of those points.

I remember it well. Smalls completely unraveled.
We’ve all seen a lot of terrible Owl football over the years. That series of turnovers stands out in my memory as the worst.

QB turnovers last season from all of them was an embarrassment (and why I think this season's QB is likely Stankavage).

Not exactly “Lightening in a bottle”. Actually more like if disaster flick king, Irwin Allen, had done a football movie.

I’m looking for improvement in category of watchable football and games that aren’t completely over by well before halftime.

I suspect that the sequence against Army was at long last the final straw. Not sure that i have ever seen anything worse in my 50+ years of watching Rice and sports in general.

If I recall of Tyner’s 5 turnovers three were Hail Mary attempts. Lightning and flash started all but two games and the bulk of their turnovers for the exception I believe La Tech were in the first period. Lightning = Army. As for stankadore hopefully he can compete for the job just hard to hand the job to a guy that has only thrown one pass in a game since high school. Need to see what he can do in person before handing over the keys.

+1. I thought the coach would be fired. It's the only time I've left after one quarter.

I remember reading about a game that were leading 12-0 with two minutes left, and lost it 20-12. Mid 1950s I believe.

aTm, Nov 12, 1955. They scored, kicked onside and recovered, scored again, then we threw an interception. We started that year 2-0-1 (beat Alabama, tied LSU, beat Clemson), were ranked #15, then lost the last 7 games.

That's the one.

Who was the QB?
