Sorry to sidetrack the thread, but I was just curious without digging through all the threads.

IDK but it will look nice when it is done!

Visitors side does, but that home side rendering looks a lot better.

RE: Who has the Best Football Stadium in the SBC?
Tx St has the best looking stadium I've visited in the G5 and its not close. The only stadiums in CUSA or SBC that I haven't visited ....

App
GSU
the new SBC school
UTEP

The others can add endzone building or what ever and it still wont touch Tex St in outside views of the stadium. I stopped and saw Troy's stadium for the 3rd time last summer on a trip to PCB. Troy is still my favorite SBC stadium to visit....short drive to white sand beaches a great long weekend trip to take in Oct or Nov.

While I dont like hole in the ground stadiums...Troy is the one exception. It would be it 2nd to TX ST

More like a side of a hill stadium, actually.

I haven't seen Texas State in person. I've been Troy, ULL, ULM, Ga State (Georgia Dome). My favorite Sunbelt I have been to so far is Troy. I want to see Ga Southern and App State. I'm hoping we can approval for our new stadium and we could be in the discussion. How did Ladd get ranked 5th? I wouldn't rank it that high.

RE: Who has the Best Football Stadium in the SBC?
I've been to every stadium except USA, stAte, and Texas St.

Based off of that I'd say Troy is the best of those that I've been to by a good bit.

UL is big but outdated
GS isn't bad but the press box /suites leave a lot to be desired
GSU is just weird and way too big for them
ULM is impressive from a distance but needs some TLC
CCU has potential and will be mostly new but all metal

Of course App has the track (can't wait til its gone), and the mismatch look that needs to be addressed. Our press box and suites may be the best in the conference though.

RE: Who has the Best Football Stadium in the SBC?
TXST Pro/Con list.

Pro:
1. Covered concourse that goes around entire stadium, with a view to the field. Hugely underated feature in a stadium. Just compare to the newly built UNT Apogee stadium which has the concourse behind the seats. [Image: univ-north-texas-apogee-stadium-1-1200x4...00x466.jpg]

2. Concrete. Doesn't look like an erector set

Con:
1. In current setup, there are more seats in the endzone than on the sidelines. This won't be the case after the visitor side renovation/expansion, TBA.

2. No good place for a large videoboard. Even if we get something new, it looks like the best option is two, which means they'll be smaller or we'll spend more.

3. Sideline seats are a little far from the field. This isn't a big deal but it is a little noticeable.

Once the second deck and IPF are built it will look normal but, I love what we have. Some of the views are jaw dropping.

RE: Who has the Best Football Stadium in the SBC?
First I'll give my take on the conference stadiums I've been to...

Malone Stadium:
-Pros-
We all harp about the departments lack of steady revenue and small budget, but I really like what they have been able to do with what they have--particularly, turning their wide open endzone sections into fan terraces...
[Image: C9CF8597-34BA-4B0B-8AB9-6AE42CEA233A_zpsrfv2r9qu.jpeg]

[Image: 05875A94-1DA0-4309-9D24-F1C17DDA854E_zps0txwexqr.jpeg]

Also like the update to the turf they made a few seasons ago and paint job they did to the exterior of Malone definitely made the stadium pop a little bit

-CONS-
on the general admission side (opposite press box) there are these trailer suites they have situated inbetween the grandstands...

The times I've been and there has been a decent crowd onhand, I can't tell you how many times I've seen fans get told to sit down due to them blocking the view from these suites--on top of the nuisance of obstructed views, the overall design and placement of these "suites" seem quite cumbersome (not to mention the one right at midfield looks like it holds 5 people? 7? lol).

Pressbox is unbelievably high up but despite the incredible bird's eye view, Malone's Stadium is in need of some updates and renovations-it's particularly cramped and just needs more space to accommodate media, fans and other stuff housed upstairs

Yes, behind the new east side stands. Then a second deck over it. The old RF second deck stands will be torn down.

RE: Who has the Best Football Stadium in the SBC?
Cajun Field...

-PROS-
Cajun Field has one of the more interesting layouts to say in the least...

I'ts just quirky to walkdown into this massive hole (and watching the teams run to and from the field via an underground tunnel is pretty fun). And because of the stadium situated in a giant hole, it helps perpetuate the noise coming from the crowd (the 08 game against Astate I was at maybe had 17,000 round a bout, but during big third down plays or when the Cajuns won it for good in the last second if I hadn't known better I would've thought it was a sell out crowd just because of the echo bouncing off everything.

Doesn't really have to do with the stadium per say, but tailgaiting at Cajun Land easily tops everybody (even my beloved Astate). It has a festival atmosphere and there were many Cajun fans that were more than accommodating and hospitable to my group of Astate peeps

-CONS-
Despite the paint job the area received (which granted makes it look A LOT better aesthetically) the concourse section behind the GA/Student section I feel like is still underutilized. There's just so much dead space (and no covering of any kind for any inclement weather or storms)

Same as Malone Stadium, press box really needs some renovation and expansion--its quite a compact area

RE: Who has the Best Football Stadium in the SBC?
Ladd Peebles...

This one is actually going to be quick, easy and to the point--I actually don't immediately crap on it like so many others do...I certainly don't think it's best stadium I've ever been to. It's just
"MEH". It's layout and design is "MEH", there's nothing really eye catching around the facility (being located right smack dab in the middle of an older neighborhood is kind of bizarre as you just suddenly roll up onto a stadium lol) The press box and its interior is Meh, sight and vantage point is meh....so on and so on.

I certainly do appreciate the history the stadium carries with it--I think that is a big plus it has going for it. My only big complaint was the placement of their "video boards"...

[Image: 082CD561-D6D7-4D1F-8FD2-8BE1DC74E904_zps3zbu3hpy.jpeg]

Now I'm sure given how old the facility is and just its layout alone this was the only suitable spot to put it, but with that being said its still incredibly difficult to have a decent view of video display especially if you're not sitting on the pressbox/home side of Ladd.

Veterans Memorial Stadium...

I really really like Troy's stadium-they've got a great looking press box (and from vague recollection of my brief time up there in 08, in interior was pretty nice as well), I really enjoy the entrance/plaza concourse on the southside with the Trojan statue (very neat touch) and I'm looking forward to seeing the new endzone section when the Red Wolves travel down to Troy next season.

Its been a while since I've been there so Trojan fans correct me if I'm wrong but can you still see underneath the grandstand bleachers on the GA side? I would like to that get bricked up and covered to match the pressbox area if that hasn't been done already.

I really want to make a trip to San Marcos to check out Texas State's digs--aesthetically it looks INCREDIBLE. Love, love the brick work along with the overall design of the press box, the ribbon boards really pop throughout the stadium (sideline does look a tad far away from the field but I wouldn't say its a huge negative) only (potential biggie) I have is Texas State fans, please tell me the east side doesn't look like this still...

https://goo.gl/maps/DFJdE9EoWjT2

It's such a drastic night/day difference compared to the pressbox side.
