While I appreciate the new music, there is one home game left and the MRDs have yet to field a full show at halftime.
This year:
A: Play the opener and a concert tune, or:
B: Play concert tune and a ballad, or:
C: Play concert tune and the rest of the show
That is unacceptable.

In the many many years that I marched, we only fielded a partial show maybe once or twice in a season, but an entire season??? Give me a break.
I love the MRDs, but they are way, way better than this and fans deserve better.

Hey, at least I heard the MRDs introduced as "Virginia's Finest" in both the pre-game and half-time introductions. So, I'm good!

I found out who had been typing those announcements omitting VA's finest. Ain't gonna tell.

Fair enough.

The omission (even if it was an honest mistake) is indicative of sloppy work, and (hopefully) will not be repeated.

What did they play for the halftime show? Any more Firedance?

JMUSports usually streams the performances on Facebook but they didn’t do it Saturday.

No Firedance at halftime or postgame. Halftime was Rhapsody in Blue and another tune I cannot recall, but they were both well done.

I agree that I want to see full shows, but I would imagine some of that has to do with other on-field things taking away from time the MRDs have. Also, anticipating extra games in November/December perhaps the foot hasn't been fully on the gas?

I stayed for the post-game show and was more impressed with that show (perhaps since it is easier to hear). I spoke with Scott after the game and learned that this is a "young band" compared to past years. I think they have found their stride sound-wise and hopefully can continue that into the playoffs and play two full shows.

Also, this was the first time I was in attendance for the drum feature and I actually enjoyed it. While I think the electronic parts could be a little lower in volume so you can hear the drums better, I thought it was a cool way to show off the talent on the drum line. I was used to a drum feature in high school band and always enjoyed that even as a non-drummer. It takes some major skill to play the complicated parts and do the movements they were doing. That's my two cents.

drummers had a streak of 2 years going or so. maybe 3. glad the trumpet players righted the ship in an impressive 18 minutes

Posey is the absolute best. I am glad I got to know him during my time at JMU.

Bill once berated me SO WELL on one of the Ireland trips as I was the last one to get on the bus for a rehearsal. I believe the line was "pull any more of this sh!t and we're gonna send your ass home"!

They actually waited for you? In both the Monaco and Greece trips, students (including drum majors) missed flights, boats, and trains and were left behind as the band moved from city to city and country to country. If you weren't where you were supposed to be at the time you were supposed to be there - then it was up to you to catch up to the group.
